France gets second Voco hotel – this time in Strasbourg

After a successful debut in Paris last year, IHG’s upscale Voco brand has now made it to Strasbourg, delivering its signature service to guests in a verdant setting.

Strasbourg, the capital of the French Alsace region, has welcomed its first Voco-branded property. We find out more.

A green island in the heart of Strasbourg

It’s only been open a short time, but Voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden has already left its mark on the city. While its facade is inspired by the industrial era and features original brickwork from the 19th century, the fern-shaped decorations in the ironwork surrounding the hotel’s name already hints at the luscious green interior.

Once guests step within, they find themselves surrounded by natural materials, tropical plants and living walls, all of which help create a distinctly tranquil atmosphere.

Aurelia Gonthier, general manager, Voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden, said: “We are excited to be opening our doors to guests as a Voco. Our hotel offers guests the perfect place to relax whilst only being a short distance from a multitude of beautiful attractions the city has to offer. Voco hotels are all about delivering a great guest experience and we look forward to offering a warm welcome to guests, both existing and new, when they choose to stay with us.”

An inviting offering in the French Alsace

At Voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden, the plant-centric theme is reflected in the 120 guest rooms, with their botanically inspired colour palette.

And over at The Garden, the property’s all-day-dining restaurant, visitors can enjoy dishes and fresh juices created using locally sourced ingredients. Furthermore, the venue’s leafy backdrop and large outside terrace area invite diners to linger and enjoy another drink or two.

The hotel is set only a few steps away from Strasbourg Cathedral and the canals of Petite France on the Unesco-listed Grande Île. This makes it the perfect spot for weekend guests or business travellers who have decided to extend their stay to better explore the city.

Sustainability measures abound at Voco’s new site

Making hotels sustainable is more than just a slogan for Voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden. The property is taking a number of steps to decrease its environmental footprint, including using glass instead of plastic water bottles, providing amenities in bulk-sized containers and installing aerated showerheads.

Will Yell, head of Voco EMEAA, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden is a perfect example of what the brand stands for. We pride ourselves on being reliably different and celebrate each hotel’s individual spirit and character, whether it’s a newly built property or a well-known building with its own history.

“The brand has seen extraordinary growth since launching only two and a half years ago. There are already 15 hotels open globally and a further 23 due to open in the next three to five years. Our second hotel in France, Voco Strasbourg Centre – The Garden is an excellent addition to our growing portfolio.”

Voco combines the informality and charm of an individual hotel with the quality and reassurance of a global and respected brand.
