Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and real estate development company Paralelo 19 Desarrollos have announced plans to create a lush hillside getaway and links golf course on Mexico’s Pacific Coast.
Set on more than 2,000 acres of pristine natural landscape in the state of Jalisco, this new property promises to offer an array of world-class amenities amid breathtaking scenery. We find out more about the ambitious scheme, which is expected to debut in 2021.
A collaborative effort on Mexico’s Pacific Coast
Coming together for the creation of this resort, Four Seasons and Paralelo 19 will combine their skills to bring to life plans for Four Seasons Resort El Tamarindo, Mexico, an elegant retreat located on a private peninsula between the towns of La Manzanilla and Barra de Navidad. This area, which is known as Costa Alegre, is celebrated for its beautiful landscapes and idyllic beaches.
According to the TOPHOTELCONSTRUCTION online database, 130 hotel projects are currently in the pipeline in Mexico:
“As we grow the Four Seasons portfolio in Mexico, this project in Tamarindo is the ideal opportunity to do so, offering our guests access to the natural wonder of the region, paired with Four Seasons’ renowned service and quality excellence,” said John Davison, president and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. “We are fortunate to work in partnership with Paralelo 19, who have a deep understanding of the area and share our vision for creating the very best luxury experiences. Against the backdrop of this spectacular destination, we look forward to elevating the luxury resort offering together very soon.”
“Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo will combine legendary Four Seasons service with a tropical oasis set within a captivating landscape, tranquil beaches and rocky cliffs descending into the Pacific Ocean and adjacent to a magnificent 18-hole golf course,” added Pedro Verea Hernandez, CEO of Paralelo 19. “We’re thrilled to be working with Four Seasons to create a luxury destination in one of Mexico’s best kept secrets.”
An exciting coastal development
The new resort will lie within a protected eco-reserve, 25 miles north of Manzanillo Airport. In this privileged location, most of the 155 rooms will serve up views across the ocean, the jungle and the golf course. Indeed, the firms Legorreta and Taller Mauricio Rocha + Gabriela Carillo will reflect this natural beauty in the hotel’s design, not least by integrating local materials into the project.
This resort will be a part of the 2,100-acre El Tamarindo development, which spans several beaches and private coves. Its accommodation will cater to both adult travellers and those visiting with children, with four dining venues including an ocean-view restaurant and bar, beach bar and grill and golf-club restaurant. The grounds will also boast three pools, a forest-enclosed spa, a fitness centre, a young adults’ lounge, a water-sports centre, tennis courts and 370 sq m of meeting space, as well as an 18-hole, par-72 links golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and David Fleming.
Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo will be led by Felix Murillo, a Four Seasons veteran of over 25 years who has held roles at properties across the US, Latin America, Europe and Africa. When it opens, this resort will join the company’s growing collection of properties across Mexico, including the recently opened Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas and recently announced Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol.
