RHG launches first Radisson hotel in Germany and becomes the biggest hotel operator in the port city of Rostock.

Radisson Hotel Group recently announced the singing of its very first Radisson branded hotel in Germany.

The new hotel is slated to open in Q3 of 2022 in the heart of the historic Hanseatic city of Rostock, an economic hub in northern Germany.

This agreement, which was signed with the Friedemann Kunz Family Foundations brings Radisson Hotel Group’s German portfolio to 35 hotels and over 8,800 rooms in operation or in the pipeline.

A step towards further expansion

Launching Germany’s first hotel under the Radisson brand is a strategic step by Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) to further grow its footprint in Germany and roll out more of its brands there.

With over 2 million overnight visitors a year, Rostock is a great place to start. Apart from a leading university, the city is also home to high-tech industries and one of Germany’s largest ports.

Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said: “We’re pleased to introduce our first Radisson branded hotel to the German market, with the group’s long-term partner, Friedemann Kunz Family Foundation. We thank our partners for their trust and confidence and look forward to a successful journey based on trust and responsibility.”

An ideal destination for business and leisure travellers

The new Radisson Hotel Rostock is designed to offer upscale service and Scandinavian-inspired hospitality to guests.

It will feature over 190 guest rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a rooftop brewery bar, a lobby lounge and a fitness centre as well as 300 square metres of modern meeting and events space.

Guests will have an easy time reaching the hotel as it will be ideally situated in the city’s harbour, one of Rostock’s newest real estate development areas. The main station is only 2.3 km from the hotel and Rostock Airport can be reached in about 30 minutes.

Friedemann Kunz, CEO of the Friedemann Kunz Family Foundation, highlighted the importance of collaboration with the Hanseatic university city and Radisson Hotel Group: “With a long-term investment approach, we have found the right partner in Radisson Hotel Group as our trusted partners in Rostock. We thank them for their trust and the successful journey so far. We are also grateful to the city of Rostock in bringing a new hotel project to this destination. This will create a unique ensemble in an exciting location.”

“We are aware of the importance of this location and we thank all those involved for their support and their trust so far. As a family foundation, we invest long-term and are proud of our responsibility to the city and the region, as well as our responsibility to our employees. We are already working hard on the plans and I am looking forward to the further implementation of this project,” Mr Kunz elaborated.
