First Avid Hotel opens in Mexico with more to follow
UK-based IHG is celebrating the launch of its first Avid Hotels property in Mexico and is rapidly progressing plans to open further sites across the country, including Tijuana and Guanajuato.

Avid Hotel Fresnillo welcomes guests to a modern abode
Mexico’s first Avid Hotel, which has 100 rooms, is housed in a six-floor newbuild property close to Fresnillo’s commercial and business districts. It boasts vibrant public spaces and communal areas that are perfectly suited to relaxing, socialising, working or eating, as well an onsite gym allowing travellers to stay fit while on the road.
The rooms feature state-of-the-art technology such as the ability to cast entertainment directly from personal devices to the in-room TV, plus enhanced Wi-Fi capabilities. The rooms also have sound-reducing qualities and a best-in-class mattress to guarantee restful sleep.
“The brand, with its modern and fresh design, was created to satisfy the need for high-quality accommodations that cater to business travellers in Zacatecas,” said Jorge Apaez, chief operating officer, Mexico, Latin America & The Caribbean, IHG. “In addition to our service standards, this hotel has instituted the new IHG Clean Promise, designed to protect our guests and colleagues.”
A strong partnership
The newly launched Avid Hotel Fresnillo is owned by Operadora MBA and operated by Operadora Uno under a licence agreement with IHG. “I am particularly proud of this partnership with Operadora MBA, a visionary group of solid businesspeople who believe in their state and in pioneering the Avid Hotels brand in Mexico,” said Apaez.

Avid – A promising brand
Investors continue to show a strong interest in the Avid Hotels brand, which has been growing rapidly since its launch two years ago. There are currently more than 200 Avid Hotels in the pipeline across the US alone.
Two more projects are underway in Mexico at present, one in Tijuana and the other in Guanajuato. An additional ten hotels are planned to open around the country in the coming years.
