A look at the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows that plenty of exciting hospitality projects will launch this month, especially in Europe and North America.

A total of 255 hotels with 51,392 rooms are slated to be ready in February 2021, our researchers report. We take a closer look at what’s coming up.

Key growth regions worldwide

Europe will see 82 hotel schemes reach completion in February, bringing 12,961 additional keys to the region. And the UK’s leading the way on a country-by-country basis with 15 projects nearly finished, well ahead of second-placed France, which has eight about to open.

North America is the next most active region with 68 launches, of which 55 are in the US. These 68 hotels will bring 14,101 extra rooms into play – an indication that North America’s properties will on average be significantly larger than Europe’s.

Elsewhere, 59 schemes and 12,523 keys will open in APAC. China’s home to the fastest growing hotel market once again, with 18 launches planned – 50% more than Australia on 12.

The Middle East will see 21 hotels with 6,883 keys complete. Eight of these properties will be in Dubai while five will be in Doha, helping the UAE and Qatar respectively claim the distinction of being the region’s busiest countries.

Bringing up the rear, 20 hotel projects will launch in Africa, adding 4,318 rooms across the continent, while five hotels with 606 rooms will open in Latin America.

Most active hotel brands in February 2021

Hilton Worldwide is maintaining its growth spurt and has three entries in our list of the six fastest growing hotel brands this month.

Hampton by Hilton tops the charts with 11 new hotels and 1,962 rooms, ahead of Hilton Hotels & Resorts in second with six additional properties and 1,726 keys.

IHG’s Hotel Indigo flag will also launch six hotels, but its total room count only adds up to 801. Hyatt Regency Hotels, Citadines Apart’hotels and Hilton Garden Inn will each add five properties to their portfolios, growing their offering by 1,066, 908 and 785 keys respectively.

Noteworthy hotel projects going live in February 2021

One of this month’s most striking hotel openings is Centara Mirage Beach Resort Dubai, which is being developed by Nakheel Properties and will offer no fewer than 600 rooms right on the beach. A water park will be its main draw, while guests will also be able to enjoy easy access to Nakheel’s Deira Mall and the Deira Islands Night Souk, which boast 6,400 shops, restaurants and cafes between them.

In Wisła, Poland, the 541-key Crystal Mountain Resort Wisła will shortly open its doors, welcoming guests to the largest property in the Beskid Mountains. This hotel will offer an aquapark and a spa, as well as expansive meeting and conference facilities.

Over in the UAE, 25hours Hotel Dubai will also launch in February 2021. It’s part of the new One Central development, which is slated to become one of the city’s new premium mixed-use lifestyle destinations. Developer One Central has worked closely with Hopkins Architects and Woods Bagot to create a vibrant hotel worthy of this high-profile site.
