High-end gym brand branches into hotels in New York’s newest neighbourhood, Hudson Yards

Equinox fitness centres is stepping further into the hospitality sector with its first hotel in New York’s Hudson Yards.

The property will combine fitness and accommodation with the upscale, exclusive luxury that defines the Equinox brand.

We find out more.

Sun rises over new Equinox NYC hotel

Equinox has been in the business of toning bodies for a few years now, and it seems the time has come for the fitness brand to make a go of honing their skills in the arena of hospitality.

New York is abuzz with the recent news that the high-end gym and fitness brand is opening their flagship hotel in Hudson Yards, the brand spanking new development in Manhattan that has everyone talking.

The hotel’s website sells the property as follows: “Elevate your expectations. Immerse yourself in high-performance living. Reimagine how you move, eat, and sleep in the heart of New York City’s newly formed cultural crucible. Stay exceptional.” Lofty stuff indeed.

Core concepts at the heart of Equinox Hotels

As you might imagine with a brand that has built its reputation on sculpting bodies, Equinox’s hotel arm also has a few basic principles at its core: movement, regeneration, and nutrition. These ideas drive everything from the design concept to the operations of the hotel, and are visible throughout.

One of the highlights of the property is the vast 60,000 sqft fitness centre, the largest fitness facility of any of Equinox’s spaces. Guests of the hotel gain a membership pass during their stay, and have access to the amazing club facilities, which include a salt water pool and hot and cold plunge pools. The gym interface is synced with every Equinox facility, so members have access to their existing workouts.

Guests can also regenerate in both the guest rooms and spa, which are equipped with high tech systems that control comfort levels. The hotel’s dining areas, as you might imagine, are focused on clean eating and a balanced diet.

Community at Equinox Hudson Yards

One of the most common trends in hotels these days is both tapping into the local community and creating a space for the traveling and local community to mingle.

Well, the new Equinox hotel in New York comes with a ready-made community of fitness fanatics, who will no doubt be buying into the brand or already be loyal to it from their fitness centres. The brand is also a great fit for Hudson Yards, Manhattan’s brand new cultural quarter, because it sees itself as a pioneer in the art of high end fitness, and Hudson Yards is pioneering a new type of high end living.

“Don’t think of us as a hotel with a gym attached to it or a hotel with a great fitness club,” said Christopher Norton, CEO of Equinox Hotels. “This isn’t two brands running parallel to each other, this is a brand integration and experience that includes the larger experience of staying in a hotel that offers exceptional health and wellness for guests.”

Norton also added that people will care about being a part of this new journey with Equinox because “they care about themselves.”
