El Salvador’s famed surfing town El Zonte has gained its first high-end condo hotel, a sign of the continued tourism boom in the coastal region.

Residence-style resort

Wave House El Zonte boasts 19 ‘residences’ with in-house kitchens and direct access to black-sand beaches.

The residences range in size from studios to three-bedroom penthouse suites, all with ocean or mountain views from the balcony or patio.

Furnishings for the property have been done by local Salvadoran design studio CHWashington Studio, with pieces sourced from local vendors. Textiles were designed by local women-owned brand Lula Mena, and pottery was designed by the Wave House team and crafted by Shicali Ceramics, a non-profit organisation employing those with disabilities.

El Zonte gains traction

El Zonte has gained a reputation recently as a hotspot for surfers and is known among locals as Bitcoin Beach. The town is located on the Pacific Ocean just one hour from the capital San Salvador.

Further immersing guests in the local culture, the property showcases local artists in the lobby art gallery and has partnered with Bendito Fuego and other local renowned chefs.

Amenities such as an outdoor infinity pool with vistas of the Pacific Ocean, a new collaboration with Minibar Miami cocktail bar to enjoy poolside, a 5,000 square-foot rooftop deck with one-of-a-kind panoramic ocean views and sunsets (capacity for up to 150 people), a rooftop wellness area with jacuzzi and cold plunge, a Biomechanics gym, a physical therapy/massage room, concierge service and personalized experience management, as well as a lounge and workspace.
