The hotel brand and management company has revealed plans to launch a 165-key property in the Sunshine State, complete with a private marina capable of hosting guests’ megayachts.

A prominent plot next to the Miami River could soon be transformed into a world-class hospitality scheme.

A new lifestyle destination

Dream Hotel Group has signalled its intention to open a stunning ten-storey hotel as part of Riverside Wharf, a US$185 million, 200,000 sq ft mixed-use development alongside the Miami River in the midst of the city’s downtown area. Its new flagship property, Dream Miami, will make the most of 600 ft of water frontage at 114 SW North River Drive.

Riverside Wharf is being led by developer MV Real Estate Holdings in partnership with Driftwood Capital, with design courtesy of Jon Cardello at Cube 3 and landscape design by Savino-Miller Design Studios. The development is expected to break ground in 2022 with completion planned for 2025.

“Miami is a top international destination for world-class hospitality and entertainment and continues to set the bar with exciting new experiences for travellers unlike anything else in the world,” said Miami mayor Francis Suarez. “Dream Miami at Riverside Wharf will be an unparalleled development in the heart of Miami for visitors and locals alike, and I couldn’t be more excited to see it become a reality.”

Dream Hotel Group CEO Jay Stein added: “There is a natural synergy between Dream Hotel Group and the city of Miami. Our leading lifestyle brand Dream Hotels continues to expand quickly, just like Miami, offering international hospitality, vibrant entertainment and one-of-a-kind experiences sought by local residents, as well as business travellers and pleasure seekers from across the globe. We are thrilled to take part in this extraordinary project and can’t wait to open our doors in 2025.”

A reflection of the river

Dream Miami will house 165 guestrooms and suites, along with six dynamic dining and nightlife venues and a 30,000 sq ft rooftop pool deck and nightclub with views over the city. Additional amenities are to include health and wellness facilities, a 10,000 sq ft event hall and a private marina set up to accommodate the megayachts of its wealthiest visitors.

The site is already home to the well-known Wharf Miami restaurant, now managed by Breakwater Hospitality Group.

The development is designed to reinterpret the Miami River in a vertical composition of flowing concrete forms. A Corten steel façade runs along the streetside, with other materials paying homage to the working river’s history.

Riverside Wharf will anchor the developing Miami River District, one of Miami’s fastest growing downtown neighbourhoods.

“Our strategic partnership with Dream Hotel Group represents the values we share in contributing to the revitalisation of great cities,” said Alex Mantecon, CEO of MV Real Estate Holdings. “Dream Miami will be the centrepiece of this landmark development and is the ideal catalyst to keep transforming the Miami River into a thriving world-class destination.”

Christian Glauser Benz, senior vice president of development for Dream Hotel Group, added: “As a local resident of Miami, I have witnessed first-hand the remarkable evolution of this area. We worked tirelessly with Alex and his amazing team to bring this incredible vision to life, and we are truly honoured to be part of Miami River’s rebirth story.”
