The latest Doubletree by Hilton hotel, which boasts 59 guest rooms and several appealing F&B outlets, has started welcoming guests in A Coruña.

Based in the heart of the historic city, DoubleTree by Hilton A Coruña is the brand’s fifth property in Spain. We take a closer look at this new upscale hotel.

The hotel is based just 50m from one of Europe’s longest beach promenades, an attractive 13km stretch running from Castillo de San Anton to El Portino.

It’s home to the Hünico restaurant concept, headed up by award-winning Spanish chef Adrian Felípez. Felípez is the recipient of numerous accolades, including Michelin’s Bib Gourmand award, the Q award issued by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality, and the Distinction Galicia Calidade. Hünico means ‘unique’ in Spanish – and it’ll be serving up distinctive Atlantic cuisine against the stunning backdrop of this historic port city.

Simon Vincent, EVP and president, EMEA, Hilton, said: “We are pleased to be bringing Hilton’s world-renowned hospitality to A Coruña for the first time. Spain’s enduring appeal as a leisure destination and business hub has made it an important growth market for Hilton in recent years, and DoubleTree by Hilton A Coruña is an excellent addition to our portfolio.”

Close to many cultural attractions

Many of A Coruña’s cultural attractions are easily accessed from the hotel, plus bike rentals are available for guests who want to explore the wider city. Nearby destinations include the Roman Tower of Hercules, a Unesco World Heritage Site, and the world’s oldest working lighthouse. In the Old Town district, meanwhile, visitors can see Maria Pita Square, home to the City Hall and the Maria Pita statue, celebrating a local heroine who warned of an invasion in the late 1500s.

Contemporary design features can be found throughout the property, with each spacious room accessible via Digital Key, Hilton’s state-of-the-art technology that allows guests to open their room door with a mobile device through the Hilton Honors app. Every room has a king-size bed, tea- and coffee-making facilities and a 55-inch television, and there are also superior and deluxe rooms, which offer sofa beds for extra guests.

In addition, the hotel has a 24/7 gym where guests can keep fit, or they can relax at the sauna; there’s also a 35 sq m meeting room with a private terrace for small-scale meetings, along with a beauty salon. And not to be overlooked, the Hünico Terrace and Lounge provides stunning views of the A Coruña coastline while patrons sip innovative cocktails, and the Lobby Bar offers a selection of light bites and drinks.

Shawn McAteer, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, said: “DoubleTree by Hilton A Coruña provides visitors with the welcoming comforts and hospitality common to all DoubleTree by Hilton hotels, starting with a warm chocolate-chip cookie at check-in and continuing with excellent service throughout a guest’s stay. We look forward to welcoming travellers and are certain they will enjoy the hotel’s modern and spacious guest rooms, great dining options, and prime location.”
