Hilton has signed an agreement with Marina Agadir to open an upscale hotel in summer 2023.

DoubleTree by Hilton Marina Agadir Hotel & Residences marks Hilton’s entry to the city of Agadir, as well as the introduction of the DoubleTree by Hilton brand to Morocco.

Branded hotel potential

During a recent visit to Morocco, Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said: “Hilton’s hospitality has a wonderful legacy in Morocco, and we are proud to be growing our portfolio here with nine hotels trading or under development. The Moroccan debut of DoubleTree by Hilton in Agadir demonstrates the potential for branded hotels in destinations across the country – as we partner with investors to expand our portfolio and international visitor arrivals continue to increase.”

Located as part of Marina Agadir project and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, DoubleTree by Hilton Marina Agadir Hotel & Residences will offer direct access to the beach and will feature 228 guestrooms, suites, and serviced apartments. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, in the marina area, are shops, restaurants, and cafes. The hotel is also close to the historical site of Oufella Ruins.

Zaid Ali, chairman of Marina Agadir, said: “As tourism continues to develop in Morocco, we are proud to partner with Hilton to open a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Agadir. The hotel is in a prime location in Marina Agadir and will enhance the overall visitor experience with the world-renowned DoubleTree by Hilton brand, as well as great dining, events and leisure facilities.”

Dining outlet variety

The site will feature an all-day dining restaurant with outdoor terrace, grab and go outlet, and four lounges/bars – including at the pool and beach area. The hotel will offer meeting space across four meeting rooms – as well as a fitness centre, kids club and full-service spa.

Shawn McAteer, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, said: “It is a delight to see DoubleTree by Hilton meet Moroccan hospitality as we sign our first hotel in Morocco. For more than 50 years, DoubleTree by Hilton has been renowned for delivering a warm welcome to guests around the world and we look forward to extending that welcome to even more business and leisure travellers with this new property in Marina Agadir.”

DoubleTree by Hilton Marina Agadir Hotel & Residences will be located 27 kilometres from Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA) and approximately 10 kilometres from the popular coastal destination of Taghazout.

Hilton currently operates four hotels in Morocco: Hilton Tanger City Center Hotel & Residences, Hilton Tangier Al Houara Resort & Spa, Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Centre and Hilton Garden Inn Casablanca Sud which opened in April 2022. With five hotels under development in locations across the country, Hilton expects to open Conrad Rabat Arzana and Hilton Taghazout Bay later in 2022.
