Kay Elliott led the architectural design and THAT Group designed the stylish interiors of this modern take on a British seaside stay.

A reinvigorated area

2021 saw the completion of this new Hampton by Hilton hotel in the Devonshire seaside town of Torquay. This hotel is a part of the town’s £32m harbourside regeneration scheme.

The 131-room property provides a fresh new place to stay in this regenerated area, with views over the harbour and seafront sites such as the English Riviera Wheel and Pavilion.

Guests are met on arrival with a five-metre Riviera palm tree at the entrance canopy on Torwood Street.

Modern seaside style

Inside, a glass vestibule on The Terrace leads through to the open-plan ground-floor of the property, with three floors of accommodation above.

From the reception featuring a marble desk, guests are led to a bright dining area with banquette seating and a mirrored bar, rooms decorated with a turquoise or burnt orange colour scheme and additional facilities including a fitness centre.

The Nautical artwork of Torquay designer Bert & Buoy features throughout.
