A TOPHOTELDESIGN exclusive, we take a closer look at Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, which opened in 2019 with 300 fully updated rooms and its very own helipad.

This major transformation of the original Astir Palace Hotel marked Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts’ long-awaited entry to Greece.

A new era for the landmark hotel

Early 2019 saw the debut of Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, a scheme that cleverly drew inspiration from the original property’s historic glamour. The fully renovated property is idyllically positioned in 74 acres of lush landscape on the Athenian Riviera, 30 minutes from both the centre of Athens and Athens International Airport.

K-Studio handled the architectural aspects of this renovation, while Meyer Davis and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio worked alongside it on the interior design, and TUUCI supplied sunshades. Overall, the property now exhibits a fresh, modern look that stylishly spills outdoors, with abundant use of natural materials throughout.

Highlights of the Four Seasons hotel’s sprawling footprint include three private beaches connected by a boardwalk, three swimming pools, five tennis courts, a basketball court and extensive trails. Watersports such as windsurfing are catered for as well, and families can take advantage of a complimentary kids’ programme. The property even has boat access and its own helipad.

Combining modernity and heritage

Guests are accommodated in light-filled rooms and suites, along with ultra-exclusive garden cottages.

The rooms and suites are housed in two distinct buildings, Arion and Nafsika, while the hotel also boasts eight distinct culinary concepts, from Italian trattoria-style Mercato and beachside Taverna 37 to Latin American grill Helios and seafood specialty restaurant Pelagos. And The Spa at Four Seasons incorporates The Fountain House hydrotherapy zone, which pairs inspiration taken from ancient Greek traditions with state-of-the-art facilities like an aroma steam grotto, hammam, vitality pool and chill showers.

Last but not least, events are hosted in a variety of indoor and outdoor function spaces accommodating 70 to 700 attendees.
