A TOPHOTELDESIGN exclusive, we take a closer look at a new aparthotel in the Irish capital featuring three F&B concepts by Alan Clancy’s hospitality company NolaClan.

This sleek property benefits from the warm modern design of AvroKO’s London studio and local firm C+W O’Brien Architects.

A new cultural hub

Having opened in November 2021, the 241-studio Beckett Locke aparthotel is now hosting guests at the heart of Dublin’s Docklands, behind the 3Arena. It seeks to provide the city with a new culture and entertainment hub, where coworking space, an artisan coffeeshop, an appealing restaurant and an intimate cocktail bar are all set around a naturally lit atrium.

The onsite meeting and event space caters for up to 100 people, and each apartment comes with everything guests need for short, medium and long stays, including living and dining areas and a fully fitted kitchen.

In line with the overall ethos of Edyn’s Locke brand, Beckett Locke aims to enhance the experience for both guests and locals with the help of creative partnerships and cultural programming.

Docklands design inspiration

The London studio of design firm AvroKO worked in partnership with local practice C+W O’Brien Architects to create the scheme’s interiors. Studio apartments were designed in-house by Edyn Development Studio.

Interiors pay homage to the Docklands’ industrial heritage along with Dublin’s maritime history. Meanwhile, the social space surrounding this structure’s central glass atrium takes inspiration from a traditional Docklands market hall, and each apartment evokes the history of the area by incorporating black steel, exposed concrete and rust-coloured soft furnishings.

Three F&B concepts, all by renowned publican Alan Clancy’s hospitality group NolaClan, feature throughout the property: North 7th Coffee, for pastries and artisan coffee; The Belis contemporary Irish restaurant, highlighting local ingredients; and Sam’s Corner, serving up handcrafted cocktails.

In summary, Beckett Locke embodies the hotel brand’s signature hybrid ‘home-meets-hotel’ concept, with each apartment providing the space and comfort of home, original drinking and dining concepts, and locally inspired design.
