Hyatt Regency Lisbon, represents a major milestone for Hyatt as it makes the entrance into the Portugese market
A Hyatt affiliate enters into a franchise with a subsidiary of United Investments Portugal and Fibeira to launch first Hyatt Regency in the country.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that one of its affiliates has entered into a franchise agreement with an owned subsidiary of United Investments Portugal and Fibeira.
A milestone for Hyat
The entrance into the Portugese market represents a major milestone for Hyatt, one which signifies the brand’s growing presence in more and more competitive markets throughout Europe.
The property is expected to open in late 2020 and feature 200 rooms and apartments. It will be in a prime location between Rua Guerra Junqueiro and Avenida da India, a stunning waterfront spot facing the Tejo River.
This spot is also just a five-minute drive from Lisbon’s historic and vibrant city centre, which puts it within easy reach of many major attractions, a list which includes UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Bélem Tower and the Jéronimos Monastery.
This also gives the hotel easy access to the airport, making it a great option for both business and leisure travellers.
It is also significant that Hyatt will now have a hotel in Portugal’s coastal capital, where the number of tourists has increased for eight consecutive years.
In 2018, a whopping 12.8 million visitors came to the country and growth still shows no sign of slowing down.
Luxury amenities at the Hyatt Regency Lisbon
The hotel will, of course, also feature a long list of luxury amenities.
This includes a wide range of facilities such as a luxury spa, a swimming pool, a rooftop terrace bar with views of the river, and a beautiful courtyard with a garden.
“We are delighted by the announcement of plans for the first Hyatt hotel in Portugal as Lisbon is one of Europe’s leading cities in overnight stays and has quickly established itself as a prime destination not only for leisure travellers, but also for larger conventions and events,” said Nuno Galvão-Pinto, regional vice president development at Hyatt.
“We look forward to working with United Investments Portugal on this exciting project in Lisbon. This is an important step for Hyatt as we look to expand our brand presence throughout Portugal,” Mr Galvão-Pinto went on to say.
Guests will also have the pleasure of enjoying notable food and beverage options, flexible spaces to get some work done, and the latest in technology-heavy spaces for meetings and events, complemented by expert planners to help arrange all the details.
