Nobu Hospitality, the global luxury lifestyle brand founded by Robert De Niro, Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper, has announced the launch of an ambitious 115-room Nobu Hotel in Chicago.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the start of July 2020, Nobu Hotel Chicago is now welcoming guests to the city’s vibrant West Loop neighbourhood. We find out more about this eagerly awaited property.

Bringing Nobu Hotels to Chicago

Designed by Studio K and Modif Architecture and brought to life by Shawmut Design and Construction, Nobu Hotel Chicago seamlessly blends the brand’s signature Japanese aesthetic with its urban surroundings. The dramatic use of proportion, coupled with curated natural materials, mango wood millwork and textured surfaces, creates a unique sense of warm yet reserved luxury.

“Continuing our longstanding relationship with Nobu Hospitality, we were able to work seamlessly with all teams to bring this stunning new hotel to life,” said Randy Shelly, executive vice president of hospitality at Shawmut. “Our extensive hotel experience, history with the brand, and deep bench of expert Chicago builders and partners allowed the team to successfully bring this project across the finish line.”

Chicago’s new luxury lifestyle destination

As is customary for Nobu Hotels, the Chicago property promises to deliver several outstanding dining venues. This includes a signature Nobu restaurant and bar on the ground floor, which will open at a later date; The Rooftop at Nobu Hotel Chicago, serving light snacks inspired by Chef Nobu’s dishes as well as a wide variety of sake and unique cocktails; and Sushi Bar, where a small number of guests can watch their meal being meticulously prepared by master chefs.

Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, said: “We are so pleased to introduce our first Nobu Hotel in the Midwest.

“Chicago is a world-class mecca of dining and entertainment and we are very proud to provide a new and exciting destination for the local community and visitors. This exciting project is a result of our longstanding affiliation with RCD Resorts, with whom we have partnered on our Miami and Los Cabos properties and share the passion for the Nobu brand.”

Taking IT to a new level at Nobu Hotels

The Nobu Hotel Chicago will do more than set a new standard for luxury accommodation and dining; together with its sister properties in Warsaw and London, the Chicago hotel is using Aruba networking technology to provide a superior experience to guests. The move enables it to deliver highly secure and reliable Wi-Fi and a range of IoT applications.

According to Rodney Linville, global corporate director of IT for Nobu Hospitality, Aruba’s open, secure and nimble cloud-native infrastructure was the perfect match for the Nobu Hotel brand. “The Aruba infrastructure allows us to easily layer services and add applications that will deliver the customer experience our guests are seeking, as well as help our employees become more efficient,” he added.

Named one of luxury’s 25 Most Innovative Brands by Robb Report, Nobu Hospitality is ranked among an elite selection of global luxury hospitality brands.
