Langham Hospitality Group has strengthened its presence in China with the launch of the futuristic Langham Place, Changsha, designed by Wolf D Prix of Coop Himmelblau.

The April 2021-opened Langham Place, Changsha is Langham Hospitality Group’s 13th hotel in the People’s Republic and 25th in its growing global portfolio.

A landmark hotel

This new 295-room scheme is part of the expansive Da Wang Shan Resort, south-west of the capital of China’s Hunan province, Changsha. The development is surrounded by impressive natural landscapes, including Dawang Shan, the Xiang River and Baxi Island, as well as Xiangjiang Happy City.

Hotel guests will have access to multiple entertainment and amusement parks at Da Wang Shan Resort, alongside one of the world’s largest indoor ski slopes.

“We are very proud to introduce Langham Place, Changsha to the city and manage this new landmark hotel within this dynamic entertainment complex,” said Stefan Leser, chief executive officer of Langham Hospitality Group. “The arrival of our brand and the opening of this stunning hotel will further enhance the guest’s experiences at Dawang Mountain Resort and this historically rich city of Changsha.”

“We are honoured to partner with Langham Hospitality Group, and are delighted to introduce luxury hospitality to the Da Wang Shan Resort, our landmark tourism project for this region,” added Zhao Chunhua, chairman of Huanian Cultural Tourism under Xiangjiang Group. “Together, I am confident we will put Changsha on the map as a must-visit destination for travellers.”

Innovative design and abundant amenities

The hotel has been brought to life by renowned international architect Wolf D Prix of Coop Himmelblau. Connected to Snow World with a plaza, the hotel tower is designed with an economical system that incorporates state-of-the-art sun shading and natural ventilation.

There are 295 guestrooms and suites in total, ranging between 36 and 255 sq m in size and including two-bedroom executive suites for families. Each room features the signature Langham bed, a warm palette of neutral hues, and French windows providing 180-degree river and lake views.

This accommodation is complemented by three restaurants: all-day dining venue The Place, Cantonese fine-dining experience Ming Court and the Peak bar, which is located at the highest level of the hotel and provides panoramic views. Drawing on The Langham’s roots, meanwhile, English afternoon tea is served in The Salon.

Wellness facilities here include the Chuan Spa, which focuses on holistic treatments integrating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, along with a fitness centre and indoor swimming pool. And events can be hosted in more than 2,000 sq m of space, which includes the 1,100 sq m pillarless Grand Ballroom with natural lighting and the 360 sq m Yuelu Ballroom.
