The Valley Hotel, a stylish 129-room property in Homewood, has become the latest addition to Hilton Worldwide’s prestigious Curio Collection portfolio.
Located at 2727 18th Street South in Homewood, Alabama, The Valley Hotel brings something fresh to the state, boasting a contemporary design filled with echoes of the past and classic Southern hospitality.
Encapsulating the Southern spirit
Valor Hospitality Partners has announced the launch of its new upper-upscale boutique hotel, The Valley Hotel. A member of the highly regarded Curio Collection, it features 129 guestrooms in total, including nine suites.
Danny Hiatt, regional director and general manager at The Valley Hotel, said: “Guests will look to The Valley Hotel as an oasis that simultaneously offers both relaxation and the opportunity to explore Birmingham’s unique history. We look forward to welcoming both travellers and locals and offering a thoughtful ‘home-away-from-home’ experience in Homewood.”
The property is conceived as an urban retreat, and channels the history and culture of the American South in its service, design and offering. For example, its material palette reflects the natural environment of Homewood, with wooden details and crisp fabrics embodying the appeal of traditional Southern hospitality.
Culinary delights and curated art
The Valley Hotel boasts three chef-led dining experiences that are sure to draw a crowd. These new eateries are fronted by chef Doug Zuk, known for his work in the Las Vegas food scene, and channel Southern cooking with a contemporary flair and local produce.
Ironwood Kitchen + Cocktails, The Terrace Bar and The Valley Coffee Co are all custom-designed spaces that evoke the industrial past of the area in their execution. Ironwood Kitchen + Cocktails reimagines comfort food, while The Terrace Bar provides a fireside space for enjoying a cocktail in the evening and The Valley Coffee Co is perfect for grabbing breakfast and coffee.
Moreover, the property celebrates artistry, not least through the installation of a striking new outdoor sculpture. The Outpouring, created by Salem Barker, is a metal construction visible at the hotel’s entrance that references Birmingham’s industrial legacy of coal and iron, as well as its reputation for music and the arts.
The hotel is also ideal for business travellers with more than 7,000 sq ft of flexible meeting and event space, including the 4,000 sq ft Red Mountain Ballroom, the Vulcan Ballroom and Shades Creek Room. In addition, the scheme provides convenient access to a range of shops, galleries and golf courses, as well as the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus and Red Mountain Park.
