Hilton Worldwide’s five star independent hotel brand, Curio Collection, will be continuing its meteoric rise with a strong pipeline of global properties in the offing.

Launched in 2014, the collection passed the milestone of 25,000 open rooms across 133 sites during Q3 2022.

Near term boom

According to THP data, there are at least 43 properties scheduled to join the brand over the next few years, comprising more than 7,000 keys, which will take the collection’s system to over 33,000 rooms and 176 locations.

The pipeline of openings looks to be concentrated in the near term, with at least 18 sites due to complete this year (42% of the total), and nearly the same figure again, 17, in 2024, representing 40% of the whole. Just one additional hotel a year is provisionally scheduled for 2025, 2026 and 2027, while the remaining five properties have yet to be designated a delivery date.

Global spread

In the nine years since Curio’s foundation, the brand has historically focused development in the US, with 68% of the system (72 hotels/17,572 keys) within its home country as at the end of Q3 2022.

However, upcoming properties have more of a global spread, with 14 in North America, 13 in Europe and 12 in Asia. The remaining four will appear in South America. In terms of individual country count, the US is still top with eight additions, though China and Spain are close behind on five and four new sites, respectively.

Country debuts

Upcoming additions will mark new country debuts for the brand. One of these sites is La Festa Phu Quoc, Curio Collection by Hilton, which will be the collection’s first site in Vietnam when it opens in Q2 this year. The 197-key hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a lobby lounge, a bar, pool, fitness centre, spa, and a kids’ club.

In Europe, the strand will be heading into the Netherlands for the first time with Kasteel Gemert Eindhoven, Curio Collection by Hilton, expected to welcome guests in Q2 2024. Located in Gemert, a short drive from Eindhoven city centre, the castle-style hotel will offer at least 56 upscale guestrooms and will feature two restaurants and a bar, along with spa and wellness facilities including an indoor swimming pool.
