IHG Hotels & Resorts is taking advantage of business travel’s return with the opening of a Crowne Plaza hotel attached to the Younes Conference Center in Nebraska, USA.

Crowne Plaza Kearney is centrally located between Omaha and Denver and is the first new-build convention hotel from Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts in the US since 2020.

Suited for the growing ‘bleisure’ travel segment, this 3.5-star development features Crowne Plaza’s modern style designed around connection. Throughout the main areas, the spaces are flexible with a mix of private and social gathering spaces that help guests to feel productive and comfortable.

Zoning concept

Each of the 172 modern guest rooms are designed using Crowne Plaza’s signature zoning concept to create spaces where guests can move easily through their day.

With 70,000 sq ft of dedicated space for meetings and events at the Younes Conference Center, and the brand’s signature Plaza Workspace areas, the hotel can accommodate large scale events, weddings, as well as informal meetings and meals.

On-site amenities also include a premium coffee shop and an indoor waterpark. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, Fyre Grill & Spirits, provides flexible all-day dining with a menu reflecting the flavours of the Midwest, while global favourites are available via room service. Guests can easily walk to six restaurants, shops, and a spa located on the convention centre campus, and the hotel provides free parking and a complimentary shuttle service to the Kearney Regional Airport.

Catering to the ‘bleisure’ market

Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts’ vice president of global brand management, Ginger Taggart, said: “The new Crowne Plaza Kearney is a wonderful example of how Crowne Plaza is delivering service and spaces which exceed the needs of today’s traveller and their blended work and leisure needs.

“The premium dining options, prime location and people-focused service make this the ideal place to stay, connect and experience the Midwest. As business travel continues to return, we are excited to see this property become a sought-after destination.”

Younes Hospitality president Paul Younes commented: “We’re excited to add Crowne Plaza Kearney to our growing portfolio of brands on the Younes Campus. This addition brings a new level of upscale accommodations for our leisure and business guests.

“Hospitality is in our name, and we continue our commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience for both our business and leisure travellers who are here for an event and also want to explore all that Kearney has to offer. “

Crowne Plaza continues its growth across the US, with two multi-million-dollar renovations set to open later this year in Indiana and Florida. The brand currently has over 400 hotels located in major urban centres, gateway cities and resort destinations in more than 60 countries, with 15 more due to open in 2022.
