Looking to the future in Hangzhou

Cordis Hotels & Resorts has marked the start of 2021 with the launch of the latest contemporary, approachable luxury hotel in its collection. Part of Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City, the property is just 400 m from Liangmulu subway station, providing easy access to Alibaba’s headquarters and Xixi Tech Zone as well as Xixi Wetland National Park, Liangzhu Ancient City and West Lake.

“Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang, is not only renowned for its beautiful scenery, rich history and cultural significance, making it a prime tourist destination, it also plays a key role in economic growth and development in science and education in China,” said Stefan Leser, chief executive officer of Langham Hospitality Group, whose brands include Cordis. “We are honoured to bring our fifth Cordis hotel in Greater China to this exciting city and we look forward to sharing our heartfelt services the brand is renowned for and taking care of our guests in Hangzhou.”

Contemporary design and approachable luxury

This exciting new Cordis hotel comprises 186 rooms and suites, which range from 36 to 190 sq m in size, along with restaurants and a bar, a range of event spaces, and a 24-hour fitness centre. The property was designed by HBA, taking inspiration from the beauty of the natural landscape.

Its most sought-after space is the 190 sq m presidential suite. This expansive suite’s living rooms, dining area, private kitchen and expansive bedroom come with amenities including an intelligent digital audio system.

From the superior and deluxe rooms to the one-bedroom suites and premier suites, all guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows commanding views over the city.

Within the hotel, guests can dine at two signature restaurants: Ming Court serving Cantonese and local cuisine; and the all-day dining venue Cordis Market, which offers an interactive buffet experience. Meanwhile, a bar offers a range of curated fine wines alongside vintage whiskeys and cocktails.

In addition to its 25 m indoor heated swimming pool and 24-hour gym, the hotel’s home to Chuan Spa, which has three private treatment rooms and a foot-massage room offering beauty and wellness treatments based on traditional Chinese medicine. Families are also catered for with activities such as painting and junior chef classes available through the Cordis kids programme.

Last but not least, there are six meeting venues, a 600 sq m pillarless ballroom and a business centre.
