Conrad Hotels & Resorts has agreed a deal to open its inaugural property in the Golden State as part of the Frank Gehry-designed mixed-use development The Grand LA.

One of the West Coast’s most exciting schemes, The Grand LA is expected to debut in 2022 with a mix of residential, dining and shopping spaces, as well as this milestone hotel.

A new cultural destination

Hilton Worldwide’s luxury brand Conrad Hotels & Resorts will enter California as part of The Grand LA, Related Companies’ ambitious mixed-use scheme designed by celebrated architect Frank Gehry.

“With Los Angeles experiencing its largest downtown development boom in nearly a century, we believe 2022 is the right time to introduce such a dynamic hotel and exciting development to this cultural epicentre,” said Danny Hughes, executive vice president and president, Americas, Hilton. “We’re thrilled to continue to expand Conrad’s footprint in the Americas and have the opportunity to bring this empowered and design-forward brand to a new market.”

Nils-Arne Schroeder, global brand head for Conrad Hotels & Resorts, added: “Conrad Hotels & Resorts is the ideal brand to complement the suite of offerings at the Grand LA with our promise of bold design and exceptional, passionate service, aimed at creating memorable experiences for our guests. We look forward to elevating the level of luxury hospitality in the destination next year with the opening of our first Conrad hotel in California and seeing the immersive cultural experiences at Conrad Los Angeles come to life for travellers and the local community.”

Combining luxury lifestyle with culture

On opening in 2022, the Hilton-managed 28-storey hotel will accommodate guests in 305 modern and boldly designed guestrooms.

Standout amenities here are to include a spa, elevated indoor-outdoor lobby and 16,000 sq ft rooftop terrace with private pool deck. Guests will be able to refuel at the property’s restaurants serving locally inspired cuisine in expansive spaces embracing California’s outdoor culture, attend functions across 12,000 sq ft of event space, or burn off some calories in its state-of-the-art fitness centre.

In addition, there’ll be 176,000 sq ft of retail and dining options within The Grand LA, which will also house 400 residences and a public plaza with landscaped terraces for arts programming.

“The Grand LA is thrilled to host Hilton’s first Conrad property in California,” said Rick Vogel, senior vice president at Related Companies. “Conrad is one of Hilton’s high luxury brands for the epicurean traveller in search of culture, arts and dining, which is aligned with The Grand LA’s landmark destination as the epicentre for arts and culture in LA. We look forward to welcoming Conrad Los Angeles’s first guests when The Grand LA opens in 2022.”
