Our researchers on the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database have found that Chengdu, capital of China’s Sichuan province, is set to welcome 13,596 additional rooms in the coming years.

Long recognised as an important bridge between east and west China, Chengdu is one of the People’s Rebublic’s key economic hubs.

Therefore, it’s no wonder that hotel developers are flocking to the city – according to our most recent figures, 60 properties with 13,596 keys are currently in the works here. We find out more about these upcoming openings.

Chengdu’s top hotel projects to watch

Tivoli Chengdu at Cultural Heritage Park will launch in early 2021. This project, which is being realised through a partnership between Chengdu Qingyang Urban and Rural Construction Development Company, will form part of the Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Park. Set on the edge of this park, the 201-key hotel will be part of a dual-branded property shared with Oaks Chengdu at Cultural Heritage Park. The scheme is expected to feature eight F&B venues, recreational facilities, and easy access to Nancaoping Ecology Park and the 18-hole Tianfu Golf Club.

Another highlight of the city’s development slate is the 303-key Nikko Chengdu Yixin Lake, part of the Tianfu Yixin Lake scheme about 20 km from the centre of Chengdu. Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co has partnered with Aerotropolis City Development Group Co to manage the new property through its joint venture BTG Nikko International Hotel Management Co. The hotel will offer guests access to nearby educational, medical, commercial, sports and office facilities, and boast strong connections to both the city centre and the airport. An opening date has been pencilled in for October 2022.

Ascott Tianfu Chengdu, meanwhile, is on its way to Tianfu New District, a national development zone for science and technology innovation. Guests at the 112-unit serviced residence will benefit from easy access to the offices of many well-known domestic and foreign enterprises, while the Western International Convention and Exhibition Centre and China Western International Expo City will be just across the street. Developed in partnership with China Vanke, the property is due to open in 2021, offering a mix of one- to three-bedroom apartments alongside convenient facilities like a guest lounge, gym and swimming pool.
