Choice Hotels International has sealed its first conversion property for Radisson Hotels Americas since it acquired the brand in 2022.

Radisson Hotel Cedar Rapids will result from a rebranding and renovation of what was Cedar Rapids Marriott in Iowa, USA.

Frisco, Texas-based Galaxy Hotels Group will manage the property, which is owned by Voyage Capital Group.

Property profile

The hotel will remain open for business during a comprehensive renovation in becoming part of the Choice system. Across seven-storeys, the atrium-style property features 220 keys and approximately 26,000 sq ft of event space including a grand ballroom that can accommodate 1,000 guests.

Spacious guestrooms and suites feature plush bedding, a TV, a large desk, and free wi-fi. Onsite dining comprises The Cedar Grille restaurant and adjacent lounge, a fitness centre, a heated indoor pool and a business centre. The hotel’s concierge-level guest accommodations include access to an executive lounge, which offers complimentary breakfast, snacks, and desserts during weekdays.

Radisson first

Scott Nadel, chief operating officer, Galaxy Hotels Group, said: “Galaxy Hotels Group is excited to add our first Radisson-branded hotel to the company’s growing management portfolio. We are thrilled to be a part of the vibrant Cedar Rapids community with our operation of the newly branded Radisson Hotel Cedar Rapids. Radisson is one of the most recognised hotel brands and brings great value to the Cedar Rapids hospitality landscape.

“We aim to provide a hospitality environment that immerses our team members and guests in the rich tapestry of local culture, heritage, and traditions. We are eager to show the Cedar Rapids area how we deliver on the operational tenet of authenticity with our reflagged Radisson Hotel Cedar Rapids.”
