The newly opened Cambria Hotel Ocean City – Bayfront in Maryland

Choice Hotels International’s upscale brand Cambria Hotels is continuing its US expansion drive with new openings in popular destinations on the east and west coasts.

Stylish Cambria Hotels properties have just launched in two of America’s most visitor-friendly states. We look into the brand’s latest additions.

Coast to coast growth

Since the beginning of the year, Cambria Hotels has opened six properties across the US, including at Bloomington in Minnesota, Greenville in South Carolina, Madeira Beach in Florida and Summerville in South Carolina. The latest additions, Cambria Hotel Ocean City – Bayfront in Maryland and Cambria Hotel Sonoma Wine Country in California, reflect the brand’s aim to appeal to modern travellers.

“With leisure travel returning faster than business travel right now, we’re thrilled to offer these getaways so guests can have the chance to relax, rejuvenate and disconnect,” said Janis Cannon, senior vice president, upscale brands, Choice Hotels.

“Ocean City is a vibrant seaside town and one of the most popular beach destinations on the east coast, while the Cambria Hotel Sonoma Wine Country connects guests to some of Northern California’s most well-known and picturesque vineyards. Both hotels, which represent the brand’s substantial growth across the country, are in easily accessible drive-to locations as today’s travellers pursue road trips more often than air travel.”

From Maryland to California

The 137-key, eight-storey Cambria Hotel Ocean City – Bayfront, which was developed by Tauhid Islam of PiNNacle Hospitality Group and Mihir Wankawala of The Wankawala Organization, is Cambria Hotels’ fourth property in the mid-Atlantic region of Maryland. Located in Ocean City, this establishment places visitors within moments of the Boardwalk and the Inlet and within walking distance of two beachside amusement parks, many shoreside shopping outlets and the area’s restaurants.

Within the property, guests have access to a rooftop bar with ocean views, an indoor pool with hot tub and seasonal outdoor pool with cabanas and tiki bar, plus outdoor recreational area featuring fire pits. They also have access to a state-of-the-art fitness centre and 2,400 sq ft event space as well as onsite dining options, including freshly made food, local craft beer, wine and speciality cocktails. The contemporary guest rooms here come with immersive spa-style bathrooms and private balconies overlooking the Isle of Wight Bay.

Over in California, Cambria Hotel Sonoma Wine Country, a hotel developed by Stratus Development Partners and managed by Azul Hospitality Group, gives guests a convenient base for a wine-tasting getaway. The 135-key, four-storey property is the brand’s third Californian site, and is ideal for exploring Sonoma County’s almost 60,000 acres of vineyards and more than 400 wineries, which can be visited with North Bay Wine Country Tours. Leisure travellers are easily able to reach attractions such as Crane Creek Regional Park and business travellers benefit from the hotel’s proximity to the region’s top employers.

At this hotel, guests can also enjoy al fresco and poolside dining at the onsite restaurant and bar, Sam & Mary’s, or use the outdoor heated pool and hot tub, outdoor patio with fire pits, state-of-the-art fitness centre featuring Peloton bikes and multi-function event space. And the contemporary guest rooms have abundant lighting, plush bedding and spa-style bathrooms.

Altogether, there are now over 50 Cambria hotels open across the US, with 80 more in the pipeline.
