Work has started on Cambria Hotel Columbia Downtown, a collaboration between Cambria Hotels, HighSide Development, Pyramid Hotel Group, LS3P, Elementum Interiors and McCrory Construction.
The four-storey, 144-key scheme is expected to welcome its first guests in spring 2022, joining six other Cambria Hotels properties across South Carolina.
A growing footprint
Cambria Hotel Columbia Downtown has been earmarked for an attractive site, 1000 Lady Street, at the heart of Columbia’s premier arts and entertainment district, the Vista.
This location places guests within easy reach of attractions such as South Carolina State House and Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, the Colonial Life Arena and Williams-Brice Stadium sporting venues, Fort Jackson and the University of South Carolina. The city is also close to several state parks and lakes that are ideal for camping, fishing and kayaking.

The new hotel will comprise upscale amenities designed to cater for the modern traveller and multipurpose indoor and outdoor space for both work and relaxation. Visitors can expect to find sophisticated guestrooms featuring design-forward fixtures, spa-style bathrooms, abundant lighting and plush bedding.
This accommodation will be complemented by an onsite dining offering comprising freshly made food, local craft beer, wine and specialty cocktails, along with to-go options and outdoor seating. There’ll also be multifunctional meeting space and a state-of-the-art fitness centre, plus locally inspired decor throughout, with contemporary artwork that celebrates Columbia’s rich history in agricultural and textiles.
