Cambodia’s Sihanoukville welcomes its first international five-star hotel
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has further cemented its presence in South-East Asia with the opening of a luxurious 36-storey scheme along the Cambodian Riviera.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company with 8,900 hotels across nearly 95 countries, has made its Cambodian debut in style.
Luxury along Cambodia’s seafront
Further strengthening Wyndham’s APAC foothold, Howard Johnson Plaza by Wyndham Blue Bay Sihanoukville is located on the country’s southern coast in Sihanoukville, marking the seaside city’s first international five-star hotel.
“We are delighted to celebrate Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ entry into Cambodia with the opening of Howard Johnson Plaza by Wyndham Blue Bay Sihanoukville,” said Joon Aun Ooi, president, Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Across Asia Pacific, we are committed to growing our portfolio in amazing destinations – such as Sihanoukville – and we are confident that the hotel’s prime location by the beach, along with its excellent amenities, will make it one of the most desirable places to stay in the city.”
Perched on Independence Beach, just 26km from Sihanouk International Airport, the property, which is also directly connected to the region’s largest shopping mall and a major gaming centre, is a gateway to the country’s pristine offshore islands, such as Koh Rong.
Top Wyndham amenities
Inside, the 322 rooms – either with city or sea views – are decked out with plush bedding and luxurious marble bathrooms, while some come complete with outdoor spa tubs on sea-facing balconies. The 200 sq m Presidential Suite, meanwhile, unrolls over loft-like interiors and a spacious living and dining area.
Facilities come by way of an outdoor swimming pool with sparkling views of the Gulf of Thailand, a fitness centre, a spa and duty-free retail, while drinking and dining options include Andaman, an all-day international restaurant; Private Dining Room, serving local Chinese and Western dishes; and Infinity Lounge, the perfect spot for a post-dinner cocktail. For those staying on the club floors, the club lounge offers daily breakfast as well as evening cocktails and canapés.
Aun Ooi added: “This is an incredible milestone opening for Wyndham and we look forward to continuing our strong growth momentum. Through our robust pipeline of franchise and management contracts across the region, we anticipate more than 100 openings in South-East Asia in the next three to five years. This will further strengthen our value proposition for Wyndham Rewards members as well as that for our owners and partners.”
