Brand overview: Sheraton Hotels & Resorts to debut over 17,000 new rooms [Infographic]

The Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand of Marriott International is set to expand over the next few years with 65 projects on track to being rolled out.
Focusing on the APAC region in particular, these new Sheraton Hotels & Resorts properties will provide appealing new places to stay for business and leisure across the world.
A surge in hotel projects
The TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database indicates that 65 projects, amounting to 17,042 new rooms, are on the horizon for the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand.
Of these projects, as many as 47 hotels, and 12,451 rooms, are located in the APAC region. Six projects with a total of 1,617 rooms are in North America and five projects, with 1,585 rooms between them, are in Europe.
These will be joined by three projects, and 674 rooms, in the Middle East, along with two hotels and 436 rooms in Africa and two hotels with a total of 279 rooms in Latin America.
China stands out as the most prominent country with 36 openings encompassing 9,562 rooms in total. The U.S. follows with six projects including 1,617 rooms and France is set to welcome three hotels with 977 rooms.
In terms of opening dates, 26 projects are expected to come to completion in 2022. Another 24 hotels are predicted to debut in 2023, followed by the opening of two hotels in 2024 and another 13 hotels in 2025 and beyond.
Forthcoming hotel debuts in Asia
Exciting properties within this collection of projects include the five-star Sheraton Melaka Hotel in Malaysia and both the Sheraton Putian Hotel and Sheraton Huashan Mountain Resort in China.
The 279-key Sheraton Melaka Hotel is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2022 on the seafront just outside culturally rich Malacca, with the UNESCO World Heritage city centre just a 15-minute drive away.
The architecturally impressive site is developed by CJW International Co., Ltd in partnership with Yeashin Group, JVV Group and Marriott International. The architecture is by Yuan Hong Joint Architects LKP Architecture and the interiors are being designed by Heding Enterprise Co., Ltd.
Sheraton Putian Hotel is then under construction, and expected to open late 2022, in the Licheng District of the coastal city of Putian on Fujian’s southeastern coast. This hotel created by Zhenro Group, Zhenro Putian Real Estate and Marriott International is designed by SNC Lavalin, YANG /Yangbangsheng and Associates Group and Hirsch Bedner Associates.
The tower hotel’s 290 guest rooms will be joined by the Sheraton Club Lounge, Sheraton Fitness centre, heated indoor pool and Shine Spa for Sheraton, as well as three restaurants, a lobby lounge bar and conference facilities.
Over in Huashan, Sheraton Huashan Mountain Resort will welcome guests in the third quarter of 2023 with 356 guest rooms and facilities including a fitness centre and spa and a conference room and banquet hall within a total of 2,550 sq m of event space.
The new property is created by Shaanxi Tour Group, Shaanxi Bashi LY Group and Marriott International, with the design of The Architectural Design & Research Institute of Zhejiang University, JR Design and Hangzhou TongMSK Architectural Structural Design Office.
