According to the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database, DoubleTree by Hilton currently has 85 hotel schemes in its pipeline, with a strong focus on APAC.

DoubleTree by Hilton will grow its global footprint by 85 hotels and 18,661 rooms in the coming years, our research indicates. We take a closer look at the brand’s expansion plans.

DoubleTree’s upcoming openings

The rest of 2021 is shaping up to be a busy period for one of Hilton Worldwide’s most prolific flags, with 30 new hotels and 6,511 rooms due to go live in the coming months. Eight of these properties are currently in the pre-opening phase.

For 2022, another 20 projects with 4,336 keys are slated to be completed. In 2023, DoubleTree will add 11 hotels to its portfolio and grow its offering by 2,582 rooms, while 24 projects and 5,232 keys are already on the cards for 2024 and beyond.

Top growth regions for DoubleTree

DoubleTree will see by far the most growth overall in APAC – 51 hotel projects with 12,136 rooms are in the works here. A staggering 32 of these schemes have been earmarked for China alone, making it the brand’s most dynamic national growth market.

The Middle East comes in a distant second place with 16 ongoing projects and 3,256 keys. Six of these properties will open in Saudi Arabia and bring 938 rooms to the Kingdom, while another four hotels are planned in the UAE, adding 1,026 keys to the Emirates’ offering.

Europe takes third place in the regional rankings with eight new hotels and 1,549 rooms, followed by North America where the brand will grow by seven properties and 1,273 keys. Finally, DoubleTree will add two properties to its footprint in Africa and one in South America.

DoubleTree’s must-follow hotel projects

DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Bahrain Juffair will be part of an upscale, mixed-use development by SilverFox Studios in the capital city, Manama. Set to open in late 2021, the 356-room hotel is expected to appeal to long-stay corporate and leisure guests. The property will offer a host of welcoming amenities including three restaurants, a lobby lounge, two meeting rooms, an outdoor pool and ‘his and hers’ health clubs.

Just outside Vancouver, meanwhile, DoubleTree by Hilton South Surrey will be part of a dual-branded property. The 250-room hotel is currently undergoing extensive renovations to give it a more contemporary feel; IBI Group Canada, the architectural firm tasked with the revamp, has shared renderings of an impressive new outdoor plaza, modern interiors, and a 41,200 sq ft conference and meeting space. A preliminary opening date has not yet been confirmed.

Elsewhere, DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Abilene in Texas is set to open by mid-2022, near the city’s downtown area. The property will boast 206 spacious guestrooms, a full-service restaurant, a bar and lounge, and 38,700 sq ft of public meeting space, complementing the 130,000 sq ft already offered at the nearby Abilene Convention Center.
