by | 01 Apr 2021 | Portfolio

A look inside the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows that Courtyard by Marriott will complete 93 schemes in the next few years, predominantly in North America and APAC.

Courtyard by Marriott plans to drive 93 hotel projects with 17,267 keys across the finishing line in the coming years. We find out more about its upcoming launches.

Courtyard by Marriott hotel openings by year

2021 will be a busy year for the Courtyard by Marriott brand. 38 hotels (with 7,287 rooms) are due for completion in total, of which 14 are already in the pre-opening phase.

Looking further ahead, another 23 properties with 4,480 rooms will go live in 2022. Only nine openings with 1,572 keys are scheduled for 2023. But for 2024 and beyond, 23 projects and 3,928 rooms are already in the pipeline.

Key growth regions for Marriott’s fast-growing brand

North America takes the lead on a region-by-region basis, with 32 launches set to bring 4,842 rooms into play. Out of these hotels, 25 will open in the US, making it the most dynamic national growth market.

APAC comes in second place, courtesy of its total of 28 ongoing projects and 6,195 keys. Half of these hotels (14) will open in China alone.

The brand will also expand its portfolio in Europe, where it plans to roll out 20 properties with 3,593 rooms. And if we look more closely at the data, we can see that the UK has the highest number of openings overall, with nine separate projects in the works.

Elsewhere, 11 hotels will go live across the Middle East, while two will open in South America.

Shining the spotlight on Courtyard by Marriott’s projects

In late 2021, the 195-room Courtyard by Marriott Mazatlán Sinaloa will open right on the beach in the Mexican city of Mazatlán. This property will offer various impressive amenities, including a pool bar, beachfront open-kitchen restaurant, fully equipped kid’s club, fitness centre, spa and infinity pool. Its guestrooms will incorporate hybrid zones for working, sleeping and relaxing, while event organisers may be interested to know that the oceanfront ballroom will be able to cater for over 500 attendees.

Over in Vietnam, Courtyard by Marriott Nha Trang Hon Tam Resort is also scheduled to launch towards the end of the year. The sprawling 371-scheme is situated on an exclusive resort island that’s just a 20-minute boat ride from Nha Trang. Guests can look forward to exploring several dining venues, as well as generous outdoor pool and recreation areas.

Looking much further ahead, meanwhile, the 150-room Courtyard by Marriott West Melbourne is aiming to open in Q3 2022. Located on the edge of the city’s buzzing CBD and only a 20-minute drive from the airport, its facilities will include a signature restaurant with outdoor seating, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness centre with sauna and steam rooms, and 250 sq m of flexible meeting space.
