Brand overview: Citadines Apart’hotels to grow by 72 properties [Infographic]

According to data in the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database, Citadines Apart’hotels will grow its footprint considerably in the coming years, especially in APAC.

A key member of The Ascott’s varied brand portfolio, Citadines Apart’hotels will add 72 hotel schemes and 13,541 rooms to its portfolio in the coming years, our research indicates. We find out about the brand’s future plans.

Citadines Apart’hotels hotel openings by year

In 2021, the extended-stay brand will add 23 properties with 4,583 rooms to its global offering.

For 2022, another 16 openings with 3,001 keys are being planned currently. In 2023, meanwhile, a further 12 properties with 2,063 rooms will go live, while 21 hotels and 3,894 keys have been pencilled in for 2024 and beyond.

Key growth markets for Citadines Apart’hotels

Citadines Apart’hotels has four active projects in Europe and one in Africa, with 771 and 123 keys respectively.

However, the brand’s busiest region by far is APAC – 67 hotels with 12,647 keys have been mooted here. With 27 schemes and 5,304 rooms, China will be home to almost half of these upcoming openings, helped by a particularly strong showing from Chengdu (four hotels, 1,081 rooms) and Shanghai (four properties, 855 keys).

The Philippines takes second place in terms of national growth markets, courtesy of its nine upcoming launches and 1,824 additional rooms. The country’s capital, Manila, is the third most active city with three debuts and 580 keys.

Malaysia concludes our country-by-country list, with six Citadines Apart’hotels properties and 1,289 keys on the books.

Noteworthy Citadines Apart’hotels projects launching soon

Set to open in late 2022, Citadines Danube City Vienna will be part of urban development project Vienna Twentytwo. It’ll be a new landmark in the city’s 22nd district, characterised by contemporary architecture, convenient transport connections and roofed promenades. The 223-key hotel will open in the heart of this attractive new area, alongside a variety of restaurants, shops, bars and offices.

Over in Turkey, Citadines Nivo Istanbul will open by late 2024 in a prime location, offering easy access to the city’s main business districts, as well as leisure attractions. Featuring 150 one-bedroom units, a residents’ lounge and a gym, it’s adjacent to the Faith Metro Station, where guests will be able to connect to the new Istanbul Airport in less than 30 minutes.

Lastly, Citadines Putuo Shanghai will launch as part of a 15,000 sq m integrated development comprising high-end residences, business centres, educational establishments and other facilities by the end of this year. Guests will be able to easily walk to Shanghai Metro Lines 3, 4 and 7 from the property, which will offer 160 one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments, as well as a gym, yoga room, residents’ lounge and children’s play area.
