Big brands have been adding hotel signings across Greece, with a good number of brand launches planned for 2025

Summer of 2025 will see a number of international hotel brands opening their first properties across Greece, as the brands make headway in a market still dominated by smaller, privately owned accommodation units.

In May 2025, Hyatt opens Zelia Halkidiki, its first Destination by Hyatt resort to start trading in Greece. The 122 room adults only property will operate under a franchise agreement, and is only Hyatt’s second resort in the country.

Crete is a development hotspot

And in June 2025, Marriott will open its JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa, the brand’s first property in all of Greece. The 160 room property, located near Chania, will be managed by leading Greek hotel management company SWOT Hospitality. Guests will enjoy the expanse of more than 100 acres of grounds, offering stunning views along the coast of the island of Crete.

Accor has also introduced its Movenpick brand to Greece, opening the first international resort in the north western region of Epirus. The established hotel in Sivota, developed over years by a local family, is looking forward to a brighter future with the support of the Accor group.

Also growing its Greek presence is Spanish group Melia. Later in 2025 it will launch its Innside Elounda, following refurbishment of the Elounda Ilion hotel, on the north east coast of Crete. And it is Crete where IHG has also signed two hotels, for opening later in 2025. It will launch the Chania Hotel Crete under its Vignette Collection, also adding to its luxury and lifestyle portfolio with the Kimpton La Mer, opening in 2026. Both hotels are owned by the Gelasakis Group, and will join another IHG hotel already open on the island, the InterContinental Crete.

The intimate Chania Hotel will have just 39 rooms, sitting in the centre of Chania town. In contrast, the Kimpton property will be on the coast, with guests in its 76 rooms enjoying easy access to Georgioupolis beach, with views across the Gulf of Chania.

The brands have also been thronging to the Greek capital, Athens. In April 2025, Accor’s MGallery opened an additional 19 luxury suites at its city centre hotel, taking the property to an inventory of 177 rooms. Hilton is busy with the refurbishment of its Athens Hilton, to create a new destination with two brands, Conrad Athens and Waldorf Astoria, at The Ilisian. And a recent agreement with partner Isrotel will result in the addition of one Curio Collection hotel, and two Tapestry Collection properties being added to the portfolio in the coming months.

Broadening the offer in Athens

Serviced apartment brand Bob W is working on its third site in the city. Bob W Stadiou is expected to open in late 2025, adding 130 units to the company’s inventory in the Greek capital.

Radisson, too, is growing in the country, and will open Radisson Red Mitropoleos Square later in 2025. An existing office building is being converted to a 112 room hotel by Gnosis Investments in a project reckoned to represent a EUR30 million investment.
