Bertrand Lejoly: Flemish understatement meets comfortable snugness

When he set out to design a signature bathroom, Bertrand Lejoly’s goal was to convey a feeling of warmth, coziness, and intimacy.

Balanced floor plan

To successfully balance an open and inviting bathroom on the one hand with an intimate place of retreat on the other, Bertrand Lejoly deployed an unconventional subdivision of the double washbasin. “I wanted to create a direct link to the bedroom, which is why it was important to strike the right balance between openness and a seamless transition between the two areas. At the same time, this creates a harmonious symmetry and optimally uses the available space,” he explained. To create some privacy despite the open room design, he decided to place the shower and shower-toilet behind doors. When closed, the doors give the impression of a storage wall that harmoniously rounds off the overall picture of the bathroom.

The versatility of D-Neo

Bertrand Lejoly selected his own D-Neo bathroom range for the interior equipment and reinterpreted it for the new ambience. “D-Neo is extremely versatile and neutral, it acts as a platform that can complement any style and atmosphere,” he said. Combined with warm and soft materials, the complete bathroom range acts like a screen that can project any personality into the room. This flexibility allows the freedom for something unique and timeless to be created.

During the design process he opted for a minimalistic approach with light, open vanity units where the most important products are stored within easy reach. Two tall cabinets on a separate wall provide ample storage and underpin the clear visual lines.

Choice of materials and details

When selecting the materials, Bertrand Lejoly opted for dark wood and black faucets. The bathtub made from satin-matt cast-mineral material is an ideal match for the overall aesthetic. “Green plays a central role in the room and subtly complements the materials, giving the whole room a consistent feel,” he added. This sets the bathroom apart from the more reserved colors used in the other rooms to create a genuine place of retreat.
