Glasgow-based studio Bell & Swift has brought in Colin Carswell, a former design manager at IHG, in a move that will help it take on additional projects and clients.

Bell & Swift has marked a new chapter in its development by appointing Colin Carswell, who has previously worked with the likes of IHG, Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International and Accor, as associate interior designer.

Carswell’s extensive industry experience

Having previously worked with company directors Craig McKie and Dawn Campbell as an interior designer, Carswell will now build on his extensive industry experience in this new role. Carswell’s impressive CV includes a stint as a design manager at IHG, where he supported a variety of brands throughout the UK and Europe including Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge, Hotel Indigo and Crown Plaza.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have joined the team at Bell & Swift. Having worked with Dawn and Craig on previous projects, it’s great to be taking on this new challenge and getting the chance to work with the team again,” said Carswell.

“I’ve spent the last few months working as a design consultant and so am excited to have the opportunity to work as part of a growing organisation and get back to delivering hands-on design work again.”

Taking Bell & Swift to the next level

Dawn Campbell, co-founder and managing director of Bell & Swift, continued: “We’re so excited to have welcomed Colin to the team. This is the next step in terms of growth for our organisation, allowing us to take on additional new projects and clients while helping train and develop junior members of staff.

“Colin’s portfolio really speaks for itself, his experience in hospitality design is hugely complementary to the existing skillset within our team, and his knowledge and understanding of the industry and internal processes is unrivalled, so we’re confident he’s going to be a great fit for the firm and for our clients.”

Carswell, who studied at the Glasgow School of Art, will work alongside McKie and Campbell on new client accounts and strategic business development, helping to deliver large-scale hospitality projects for the interior design studio from concept through to completion.
