Avani Hotels & Resorts has underlined its faith in the travel industry’s post-Covid recovery by confirming plans to proceed with a host of high-profile developments.

Despite the enormous impact of coronavirus on the market, Avani is continuing to push ahead with its growth ambitions. We find out more about what the future holds for the dynamic Minor Hotels brand.

Making the most of a challenging period

While the spread of Covid19 forced many hotels to temporarily close their doors, Avani has been able to successfully complete several full-scale renovations at its existing properties recently. This includes adding a second wing to FCC Angkor by Avani in Siem Reap, Cambodia; fully renovating Avani Kalutara Resort in Sri Lanka; and both renovating and rebranding Avani Seminyak Bali Resort in Indonesia.

But quite apart from revamping existing hotels, Avani has also been taking steps to progress several more projects. Now the brand has confirmed that it’s on track to launch more than ten new properties in the coming years, of which no fewer than four involve entering new countries.

“We are pleased that our partners are reaffirming their commitment to long-term growth with Avani, as demonstrated in their decision to continue with the delivery of at least seven new properties by the end of 2021,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels. “With yet more projects expected to be completed in the following two years and additional pipeline announcements coming soon, Avani continues to be the fastest-growing brand in the company.”

Upcoming Avani openings to look forward to

The earliest launches in the brand’s calendar are the Q4 2020 openings of the 87-key Avani+ Koh Lanta Resort in Thailand and the 264-room Avani Palm View Dubai Residences and Suites in the UAE.

In early 2021, the 273-room Avani Doc Let Resort will open right next to one of Vietnam’s top water parks, while Avani Muscat Hotel will introduce the brand to the Sultanate of Oman. At some point in 2021, the 120-room Avani Nairobi Residences will also open its doors in Kenya’s capital, and two new Avani+ properties will go live in Fares in the Maldives and Khao Lak, Thailand towards the end of the year.

Meanwhile, 2022 will see the openings of two more projects in Vietnam, namely Avani Saigon Hotel and the beachside property Avani Cam Ranh Resort. The Avani Kota Kinabalu Hotel completes the list of 2022 launches.

Finally, the 250-room Avani Yangon Hotel in Myanmar is slated for completion in 2024 and will be part of a modern mixed-use development. Upon opening, it’ll be the brand’s first hotel in the picturesque South-East Asian country.
