In architecture, the golden ratio is a formula for aesthetic harmony. For Antonio Citterio, designer and architect, it became a source of inspiration: his bathroom design for Duravit therefore impresses with perfectly balanced proportions. “The idea was to structure surfaces and thereby create an order that also has a positive influence on the quality of the surrounding space,” says Citterio. With Aurena, he has designed a bathroom series that stands for timeless elegance with its clear silhouette and fine materials, precise details and functional design innovations.
For Antonio Citterio, the starting point in the design process was the perfectly proportioned area at the washbasin: made entirely of ceramic and separated from the wet area, shelves with integrated dividers and fine, precise contours ensure that bathroom accessories are stored in an orderly fashion. The architect chose compact basin sizes in favor of generous storage areas. A profile frame made of aluminum with a stainless steel finish connects the console to the substructure in a form-fitting manner and protrudes on one side as a discreetly integrated towel rail.
When designing furniture, Citterio thinks beyond the pure form and considers the effect of the object on the room as a whole. The innovative design approach of Aurena is skillfully emphasized by the balanced harmony of colours and selected materials. Ceramic in white or black meets brushed stainless steel and a wide variety of furniture surfaces for the individual design of sophisticated interiors. Super-matt carcase colors (white, taupe and graphite) can be combined with identical fronts in matt or high-gloss as well as special front panels: The textured wooden surface creates a warm and homely atmosphere. The white marble-look ceramic tops and black lacquered glass create a classic and elegant look.
With its versatility, the Aurena series is an interior design all-rounder that is just as suitable for use in private bathrooms or guest toilets as it is in prestigious commercial areas; in hotels, surgeries or office and restaurant washrooms. Aurena by Antonio Citterio is the first complete ceramic series to be launched with the new HygieneGlaze® Plus surface. The unique bathroom upgrade combines unrivaled hygiene with effortless, environmentally friendly cleaning. As an architect, Antonio Citterio knows the requirements and problems, particularly in the project business, and with Aurena he wants to offer solutions that the market demands.
