Andaz to open first property in Singapore
Southeast Asia is opening its doors to affordable luxury with the announcement of the first Andaz property to open in Singapore next month. The Asia Pacific market has been benefiting recently from the arrival of many lifestyle brands to its shores, including Moxy in Indonesia, and Singapore itself is the site of a huge hotel expansion this year, with the financial hub set to see 18 new hotels opened in 2017 alone.
Andaz is operated by Hyatt and is a lifestyle brand that offers a refreshing take on the boutique hotel. Andaz already has a number of properties operating in the Asia market, namely in Shanghai, Delhi and Tokyo, but this will be the first in Southeast Asia. The Andaz Singapore aims to give guests a uniquely local experience, something which is very much in line with current hospitality trends that see hotels trying to tap into local areas to offer guests a true taste of the local area. Slated to open on November 15th, the Andaz Singapore will be located within the DUO mixed-use development, situated close to the Bugit MRT station.
The new hotel will have a total key count of 342 design-led guestrooms, with the upper floors offering incredible panoramic views out over the city. The rooftop bar, Mr. Stork, also gives guests stunning vistas of Singapore and its inimitable skyline. The hotel also incorporates retail and entertainment facilities in the form of “alleys”, internal mini-streets that give you the feeling of being right in the city. Hit the alleys if you have a few hours during the day and grab a bite in one of the “dining-in-the-sky” concept eateries. The hotel also has a 24 hour fitness centre, direct access to the metro station and is located only 20 minutes away from Changi airport, so convenience is right on your doorstep. It also benefits from being located close to the historic Kampong Glam and Little India districts, the iconic Marina Bay area and the Bras Basah Bugis arts hub.
Andaz Singapore is actually only Hyatt’s second branded hotel in Singapore, the first opening in 1971. Now the Grand Hyatt, is became a staple on the local hotel scene in the 1980’s.
