Aloft makes a splash in trendy Tulum

Marriott International’s stylish lifestyle brand Aloft has made its debut in the hip, bohemian paradise of Tulum on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.
Boho-chic Aloft Tulum brings a sense of flair and fun to one of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations.
Aloft fulfils lofty ambitions in Tulum
Aloft, Marriott International’s hotel brand for music makers and music lovers, has started welcoming guests to its new site on Coba Avenue in Tulum. Occupying a prime position between the ever-growing Mexican town and its well-known Playa Paraiso beachfront, this 140-key property leans heavily on the design aspects of its offering, and promises to provide modern and welcoming stays.
Sergio Parra, the hotel’s general manager, said: “After much anticipation, we are thrilled to welcome visitors to Aloft Tulum. It is the ideal choice for travellers who are in search of a boutique-like hotel with bold design at an approachable price point.”
Hippy chic with style and sophistication
Tulum is now renowned as a fashionable haunt of the rich and famous, but it was originally a small hippy town whose reputation was built on proximity to some of the world’s most stunning beaches, picturesque ruins overlooking the Caribbean Sea, and a plethora of wild swimming holes and nature reserves. This history is channelled into the boho spirit of Aloft Tulum, which marries style and sophistication with rustic charm.
Aiming to appeal to discerning millennial travellers, Aloft Tulum is expressive in its design, and guests are greeted with eye-catching street art murals as they enter.
Social spaces have been carefully considered as well – travellers can see and be seen, for instance, at the signature Atico Rooftop Lounge & Bar, which boasts an infinity pool with breathtaking views out over the surrounding area. The hotel’s other F&B options include Re:fuel by Aloft for grab-and-go supplies; the casual Re:mix lounge, complete with pool table; and the trendy WXYZ bar, where live music can be enjoyed.
The hotel’s 140 guestrooms are all loft-inspired spaces with generous 10 ft ceilings, bright and airy decor, and naturally inspired colours and materials. Each room benefits from high-speed wifi, LCD televisions, free signature coffee, toiletries from Bliss Spa and walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads.
In addition, the property features three multifunctional meeting spaces totalling 2,761 sq ft; meeting rooms can host up to 240 people and incorporate all the latest audiovisual technology. Aloft Tulum, which is managed by Highgate Hotels, also boasts an onsite pool and fitness centre.
