Ennismore has announced the debut of SO/ Maldives, a part of its fashion-forward SO/ hotel brand, with the aim of reinventing the luxury island getaway.

This all-villa resort in the idyllic Maldives promises to deliver trend-setting and avant-garde living as a private island destination that’s rooted in fashion, art and design.

A stylish island hideaway

The Maldives’ newest private island destination, SO/ Maldives, sits in an idyllic location overlooking Emboodhoo Lagoon, just a 15-minute speedboat ride from Malé international airport.

This 15-acre retreat is home to a collection of beachfront and overwater villas, along with a wellness camp and range of dining experiences. Gastronomy and well-being are both a part of the resort experience, with adventures also offered above and below the water’s surface.

Families are warmly welcomed here, with a variety of activities catering to all ages, a kids club and teens club, as well as family-forward programming such as beach volleyball.

Island takeovers are possible, with the option to hold events in oceanfront venues including the Arrival Pavilion, Lazuli Beach Club and restaurant Hadaba.

On and off the island

Just 80 one- to three-bedroom beachfront and overwater villas dot the island’s shores. Each open-plan villa is distinguished by its avant-garde design and standout features including a private pool with ocean views. Ideal for multi-generational stays, the Family Beach Pool Villa with Capsule encompasses adjoining “sleep pods” for younger travelers. Amenities here include toiletries by Maison CODAGE.

When it comes to dining and drinking, guests have several venues to choose between: The Citronelle Club for Pan-Asian all-day dining, the French Riviera inspired Lazuli Beach Club, Hadaba for Levantine dishes, and the chance to dine in-villa or another off-island setting.

The resort’s Wellness Camp takes on an East meets West concept, with a restorative spa menu that’s curated alongside Salon C. Stellar, featuring Maison CODAGE, Comfort Zone and Odacité products. Steam and sauna rooms, a Vichy Rainforest Shower and vitality pool are among the spa facilities, with classes such as yoga and sound healing in addition to a gym.

Water-based activities here range from kayaking, parasailing and snorkelling to scuba diving excursions and private exploration by yacht.
