Alternative hospitality design firm Luxury Frontiers is setting up camp in Amangiri, southern Utah.

Experiential lodge and resort designers Luxury Frontiers will be landing in Utah, with the Camp Sarika by Amangiri desert resort and year-round camp set to open to the public soon.

We take a look inside this innovative design concept.

Luxury Frontiers settles into celeb haunt

The picturesque canyon region of Amangiri in Utah has often made headlines for its stunning Aman resort, which has hosted both the Kardashians and the Jolie-Pitts over the years.

But now it’s making headlines in the design pages again, this time for a proposed offering by prestigious alternative lodging designers Luxury Frontiers.

Known for their high-end tent-scapes, Luxury Frontiers is a leader in light-touch designs that allow operators, developers and investors alternative solutions to questions of lodging in some of the world’s most out-of-reach and idyllic destinations.

CEO Luca Franco believes that this style of accommodation is going to be one of the cornerstones of travel in the future, and so the company bills themselves as a one-stop-shop, offering “turnkey solutions from conceptualization and design to project management, procurement, and experiential programming, all the way through to operational handover and ongoing operations support,” according to their website.

Journey and experience

Franco describes the Utah project, and by extension Luxury Frontiers’ body of work in general, as follows: “This is not about lodging – it’s about an experiential journey.”

He eschews the phrase “glamping”, striving instead for a “meaningful, environmentally friendly experience customised to the climate and to the local culture.”

Camp Sarika by Amangiri will span 78 acres and is conceived of as a complex where guests will be able to take advantage of the state-of-the-art spa, eating and drinking venues, a swimming pool, and of course, the rugged terrain that surrounds this enviable site in southern Utah.

The development will target those looking for something different from the traditional hotel or eco-lodge, but who still have money to spend on a luxurious environment. The camp will be open all year round and will appeal to families, couples and groups alike.
