New healthy hotel opens on Portugal’s southern coast.
Healthy holidays are all the rage these days, and a new boutique hotel in Albufeira, Portugal, is dedicated to sustainability and wellness, in both its offering and design. We find out more about this charming hotel.
Well being and health embodied in Alamos Retreat
Alamos Retreat is a luxury boutique hotel and B&B located in the Algarve, a popular holiday destination in the south of Portugal. Long a haunt of holidaymakers who come from all corners of the globe, the Algarve boasts sea, sun and stunning scenery.
Now, it also boasts a dedicated wellness hotel in the form of this quaint property which is the brainchild of hotelier and industry veteran Lourenço Ribeiro. Ribeiro had a dream to combine his two passions, hospitality and yoga, into an offering that would promote wellness and healthy living, and so the Alamos Retreat was born.
Healthy by design
Wellness lives in the very fabric of this property, given that the design itself has been conceived of to instill peace and tranquility into every space. The hotel has been decorated in a calming, country style, using natural materials, neutral colours and woven fabrics to convey a sense of serenity. This ethos is reflected in the services and offerings of the hotel, which include relaxation classes, meditation, yoga, detox workshops and a wholesome vegetarian breakfast that uses only gluten free, organic and seasonal produce.
“At Alamos Retreat everything has been designed so that our clients can recover their full health potential. We use healthy, largely organic products, we don’t use meat and fish, we don’t use processed products, we have a wide selection of gluten-free products, we don’t use synthetic fibers in our clothes,” says Ribeiro. Alamos’ mission is to not only give guests a full wellness experience, but also to help them learn new ways of living that they can take away with them after their stay is over.
