Aimbridge EMEA bolsters Iberian development team

Aimbridge EMEA, the recently-rebranded international division of Aimbridge Hospitality, has extended its development team in the Iberian Peninsula.

Two new hires are affirming the hotel management company’s plans for growth within the western European region.

New duo

Madrid-based Anxo López (pictured) has been named as development director for Iberia, bringing experience in development, hospitality and commerce to the role, having worked for the Spanish-based Eurostars Hotel Company, as well as the Spanish Embassy in El Salvador, where he supported Spanish companies entering Central America.

Secondly, industry veteran, Javier Garro Arza, has joined Aimbridge as a consultant, supporting its growth plans across Iberia. Arza, who is based in Barcelona, has more than 35 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, starting his career at NH Hotels before founding his own company, Sercotel Hoteles, which grew to 165 properties before he sold the business in 2020.

Iberian growth

Divisional president, David Anderson, said: “With our sights set firmly on growth throughout the Iberian Peninsula, Europe and beyond, I’m thrilled to announce the expansion of our Spanish-based team.

“Across Aimbridge, we’re focused on strengthening our roster with the industry’s brightest and most talented professionals, and both Anxo and Javier prove testimony to this.

“We see many opportunities to bring our unparalleled levels of service and expertise to owners with properties across both Spain and Portugal, leveraging Aimbridge’s global scale and industry-leading technologies to create memorable experiences for both guests and owners throughout the Iberian region.”

International development

The two new appointments further bolster Aimbridge EMEA’s international development team, following the announcement of three development and operational hires in the CIS region, Europe, the UK and Ireland in late 2022.

At least five high end European projects are currently in the Aimbridge EMEA pipeline, all in the UK, including Hampton by Hilton East London, Hyatt Place Sovereign Square Leeds and Tribe Airport City Manchester.
