International practice Aedas has announced that Ignacio Gomez, a high-profile figure across the Middle East, has been made a global design principal.
Ignacio Gomez brings years of leadership experience to his prominent new role within the company, which is renowned for its innovative design approach.
Design leadership
Over the 17 years he’s been an architect, Gomez has led a host of different design projects, spanning master-planning, hotel and leisure, residential, cultural and transport. In 2019, he won the Architect of the Year title at the Design Middle East Awards, placing him among the region’s most prominent architects.
Throughout his career, Gomez has been known for his cultural sensibilities and innovative design concepts, which he’s brought to life through the use of cutting-edge technology.
Prior to taking on the new role, the architect served as managing and design director – Middle East and design director – Middle East at Aedas. During this time, the practice became one of the region’s most reputable architectural firms.
A focus on new urbanisation
Aedas prides itself on being the only local and global architecture firm driven by the sharing of research, local knowledge and international practice. From studios around the world, the influential outfit develops innovative solutions that reflect a strong social and cultural understanding of the communities it’s designing for.
Focusing on the way that cities are evolving according to changing needs, the firm works off the belief that the world’s growing knowledge of new urbanisation and architectural solutions should be shared to benefit the needs of other cities. With this in mind, its collegiate global platform for research and idea exchange is designed to facilitate the growth of new and sustainable urbanisation.
