The French hospitality group will increase its footprint in the Middle East after striking a deal to open Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar within the Ajdan Waterfront mixed-use development.

This new Fairmont-branded property will occupy a prominent plot in the city of Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

A prime waterfront setting

Expected to open in 2023, Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar will house 160 guestrooms and serviced apartments, along with four dining venues and a range of meeting rooms designed to accommodate large events. The scheme is being created in partnership with developer Ajdan Real Estate Development Company.

“Our values rest on promoting social transformation, helping to enrich lives, and driving forward the Saudi 2030 vision,” said Abdullah AlFozan, chairman of Ajdan Real Estate Development Company.

“We couldn’t think of a better partner than Accor to join our vision and develop the Fairmont hotel on Ajdan. This prestigious destination is known to be one of the most desirable leisure attractions for visitors and residences of the Eastern Province in Saudi Arabia.”

“We are proud to be the first private developer that joins its footprint with Accor, achieving this major transformation in the lifestyle and tourism industry in the Eastern Province,” added Mohammed Al Otaibi, CEO of Ajdan Real Estate Development Company.

A convenient base for business and leisure

This forthcoming hotel will cater for both business and leisure travellers, including long-stay guests who are able to benefit from the brand’s Fairmont Gold lifestyle offering. As well as being conveniently located, the hotel will be home to amenities such as a Fairmont Spa, Gold Lounge, swimming pool, fitness area and kids’ club.

Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar will place guests at the heart of Al Khobar within the Ajdan Waterfront development, which encompasses retail, commercial, residential and entertainment components.

It means the property will be close to Saudi Aramco’s headquarters, the King Abdulaziz Cultural Centre and Airbase, and the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, along with several malls and a range of attractions. Significantly, the hotel will also provide easy access to the King Fahd Causeway, connecting Al Khobar with Bahrain.

“We believe the new Fairmont Ajdan Al Khobar will become the ultimate premier urban waterfront development in the Eastern Province, and maybe even the whole of Saudi Arabia, adding to the strong momentum the Fairmont brand is seeing in the Kingdom after the successful opening of Fairmont Riyadh,” said Mark Willis, CEO of Accor India, Middle East, Africa & Turkey.

“Overall, with the powerful Fairmont brand features, through to the unique architecture and expressive decor added to its prime location, the hotel promises to deliver a luxurious and unforgettable experience to its visitors.”
