Accor announces the first Mövenpick in the UK, set to open in 2027 at the Old Thorns Estate in Hampshire

Accor, a global leader in hospitality, has entered into an agreement with Dubai-based Select Group to bring Mövenpick to the United Kingdom for the first time. Scheduled to open in late 2027, Mövenpick Hampshire – Old Thorns will undergo a comprehensive renovation, transforming the 194-room resort into a premium destination in the Hampshire countryside.

Luxury resort with extensive amenities

The renovated resort will be located at the iconic Old Thorns Estate, spanning over 300 acres. Key features of the resort include:

  • A championship-level golf course
  • 2,500 square meters of conference and meeting space
  • Four restaurants offering diverse dining options
  • A wellness center with an upgraded spa
  • A ballroom capable of hosting more than 500 event guests

Mövenpick Hampshire will embody the brand’s renowned Swiss-inspired hospitality and culinary excellence, which have been central to the brand since its founding in 1948. The hotel is part of Mövenpick’s ongoing expansion across Europe, following new openings in Poland, Greece, and Italy.

Strategic location and partnership

The resort will be located one hour from London and is close to key destinations such as Guildford, Petersfield, and The South Downs National Park. It also offers easy access to the Goodwood Estate, a major venue for events like The Festival of Speed and Cowdray Park Polo Club.

The property will be operated by Accor, continuing its commitment to the UK market, where it already has over 200 hotels. Israr Liaqat, CEO of Select Group, emphasized the partnership’s focus on creating a world-class resort that blends heritage with Mövenpick’s signature hospitality.

This development marks a significant milestone for both Accor and Select Group as they work to enhance southern England’s hospitality offerings.
