Thailand-headquartered group Absolute Hotel Services is to expand its footprint in its home market with an upcoming addition to its U Hotels & Resorts brand.

U Koh Chang will be located on Koh Chang, Thailand’s third largest island and the biggest in the eastern region of the country.

Full facilities

The chain will renovate, rebrand and relaunch an existing resort on the site, ready for opening in late 2023.

The new U Koh Chang will feature 64 guestrooms with full facilities, including a swimming pool, fitness centre, food and beverage outlets and spa.

Demand surge

Jonathan Wigley, CEO of Absolute Hotel Services, commented: “The announcement of this latest addition to our Thailand collection of resorts again proves that AHS is one of Asia’s fastest-growing hospitality management and branding companies.

“We are extremely excited to launch this new resort, U Koh Chang; with travel and hospitality sectors in Thailand and elsewhere set for strong demand growth, destinations like Koh Chang are destined to benefit from a surge in demand with global and domestic travellers.”

Asian expansion

Absolute Hotel Services has at least three further high end properties under development in Thailand, starting with Eastin Resort Rayong, due to add 158 rooms to the group’s portfolio from this November; followed by the 413-key Travelodge Nimman Chiang Mai scheduled for Q1 2023; and the 494-room Eastin Grand Payathai Bangkok in Q2 2023.

Plus the U Hotels & Resorts brand has several other Asian sites in the pipeline, including U Resort & Spa Suryamal adding 50 rooms in India; plus two Vietnamese developments the 150-key U Riverside Hoi An and the 120-room U Hanoi.
