London has long been one of the most glamorous and vaunted tourism destinations on the planet.
The city is, after all, the largest in England, one that during the peak of the British Empire was the center of the global economy and a massive hub for culture. It remains influential in those areas to this day, and as a result it continues to prove year after year that it is one of the most popular markets on the planet for tourists, from domestic guests in search of fancy urbane getaways to business travelers to the highest tier of luxury international travelers.
It’s because of this continued high status, that London is perhaps undergoing what one might consider an unprecedented hotel building boom, with many new properties under development within a thriving hotel pipeline.
With this in mind, we recently turned to the TOPHOTELPROJECTS database to take a closer look at three upcoming London properties that hoteliers must know more about.
The global rock and roll hotel chain will be opening up a new location within London soon, with a targeted opening date of the first quarter of 2019. A conversion of the existing Cumberland Hotel, the Hard Rock Hotel London will be located directly at Marble Arch on Hyde Park and at the crossroads of Oxford Street and Park Lane. Hard Rock Hotel London will feature a vast, welcoming lobby lounge offering guests signature cocktails and live music, an on-site Hard Rock Cafe and a Rock Shop, featuring the brand’s iconic merchandise. The hotel will also cater to guests with a full service Rock Spa, signature restaurant and sophisticated speakeasy. In addition to an unmatched location at the entrance to Hyde Park, guests will also enjoy convenient access to some of London’s most notable West End attractions, including Buckingham Palace, the theater district, SoHo nightlife and the trendy shopping areas along Reg nt, Oxford and Carnaby Streets. The property will have roughly 1,000 rooms for guests.
This next property is equally as exciting as the Hard Rock Hotel London, if not quite so far along. It’s the Arundel Great Court, and the TOPHOTELPROJECTS database shows that while it doesn’t have an exact projected opening date, once it is completed it will have 200 new rooms to offer guests. Before construction can begin in earnest, an existing building must first be demolished. Afterward, there will eventually be a new five-star hotel in its place with serviced suites as well as available residences.
One Nine Elms will consist of two towers measuring 200m and 160m, including 439 private residential units, 52 affordable housing units and a five-star luxury hotel in the River Tower.
