A JW Marriott All-Inclusive resort is coming to Costa Rica

Suppliers, investors, developers, and hotel enthusiasts, it’s your time to shine: a new Marriott all-inclusive resort is coming to Costa Rica

Marriott International, Inc. has announced its signing agreement with Mullen Real Estate Capital to bring the JW Marriott brand to Costa Rica. JW Marriott All-Inclusive Resort, Costa Rica is scheduled to begin conversion in July 2025 and is expected to join the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in Spring 2026.

Uriel Burak, Marriott International Vice President, Development, Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), said, “We are thrilled to expand our presence in Costa Rica with the introduction of one of the first JW Marriott All-Inclusive Resorts. This project marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration with Mullen Real Estate Capital, a pioneer in the all-inclusive sector, within the CALA region.”

Luxury in numbers: a sneak peek at the JW Marriott Costa Rica

The resort will be located on the shores of Costa Elena, an exclusive resort-residential community located in Guanacaste, and roughly 49 miles from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport. The specific features and specifications are seen below.

  • 44,000 square feet of water amenities
  • 17 swimming pools
  • 10,000 square feet of indoor meeting space for events and conferences
  • 16,000 square foot spa, including a state-of-the-art fitness center

Additionally, this new luxury resort will feature 885 feet of beach frontage, making it a leading destination for all types of travelers. Future plans also include the introduction of JW Marriott-branded residences on an adjacent site.

Marriott’s Costa Rica surge

Costa Rica has become increasingly attractive to luxury travelers and investors over the past few years. In February 2025, Marriott announced the opening of its 50th luxury hotel in Costa Rica, with even more growth expected. And in 2024, Marriott signed 10 deals representing 1,086 rooms, which brings the development pipeline in Costa Rica to 15 properties, totaling 1,776 rooms.
