Construction crews have placed the highest structural beam on the Signia Hilton Savannah, marking a major step for the 444-room hotel. Officials from the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority, Hilton, Brasfield & Gorrie, and Songy Highroads attended the ceremony, along with elected officials and community partners. The tower stands just under 200 feet tall. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2028.
The property will serve as the headquarters hotel for the Savannah Convention Center and will connect to it directly. That link is meant to help the city host larger conventions, citywide meetings, and events. Kelvin Moore, General Manager and Senior Vice President of the convention center, said the expansion gave Savannah room to compete at a new level. He added that the hotel will let the city pursue business it could not consider before.

What Has Gone Into the Build
Work on the site has been steady and sizable. More than 1,200 individual workers have contributed so far, and more than 300 are on site each day. Crews have poured more than 27,000 cubic yards of concrete and installed 2,700 tons of reinforcing steel. They also placed 194 tons of post-tension cable. The foundation includes 1,135 auger piles that total more than 81,000 linear feet.
Brasfield & Gorrie is the builder on the project. John Fulford, the company’s Vice President and Division Manager, said the hotel will help the convention center go after larger, longer-stay conventions. He also said the company is expanding its presence in Savannah. The firm views the project as part of a longer-term commitment to the area.
Ownership, Features, and Dining
The Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority owns the hotel, and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority is a development partner. Hilton will manage the property. Songy Highroads and Matthews Southwest Hospitality are co-developers. Danny Hughes, President of the Americas for Hilton, said the company has confidence in Savannah as a destination for all types of travelers.
Guests will find a range of spaces and amenities, including:
- More than 34,000 square feet of meeting and event space
- A 13,000-square-foot ballroom
- Club Signia
- An outdoor pool
- Five food and beverage venues

The dining program is being developed with Grey Spaces, a Savannah-based hospitality company. Chef Mashama Bailey and restaurateur Johno Morisano lead the company. Their involvement is intended to give the riverfront hotel a locally inspired food offering. The restaurants and bars will sit alongside the meeting space, which fits the campus-style setup planned with the convention center.
Signia Hilton Savannah will be the second Signia Hilton hotel in Georgia. The brand also operates in Hollywood, Florida; San Antonio, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and Amman, Jordan. A Signia Hilton in Indianapolis is also on the way. The brand focuses on city and resort properties with strong meetings and events capabilities, along with food and beverage and wellness offerings. Savannah adds another destination to that growing list when the hotel opens in 2028.
