Opening during the brand’s 80th anniversary, the Taipei Dome property is the fourth InterContinental in Taiwan and the second built with Farglory Group

IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened InterContinental Taipei, a 347-room hotel inside the Taipei Dome complex in the Xinyi District. The property was developed with Farglory Group. It is the second InterContinental the two companies have built together, after InterContinental Kaohsiung. The opening also coincides with the 80th anniversary of the InterContinental brand.

The hotel serves as the brand’s flagship in Taiwan. IHG says it is aimed at business travelers, leisure guests, and locals looking for a place to host social events. The location gives guests access to the city’s business, cultural, dining, and entertainment offerings. Designers built the hotel around the idea of “In Taipei, For Taipei,” drawing on the city’s architecture and culture.

What Guests Will Find

Classic Rooms start at about 38 square meters, and some frame views of Taipei 101. Suites are larger, at around 76 square meters, and come with a full kitchen, a dining area, and in-suite laundry. The hotel also has an indoor pool, a fitness center, and Club InterContinental. Event spaces are included as well, and some feature musical motifs that tie into the city’s story.

Food and drink get plenty of room. The hotel has seven dining concepts, including restaurants led by chef Akira Back. A lobby installation and other design touches reflect the city’s collective memory. Together, these elements are meant to give the building a local identity.

Robbert Manussen, IHG’s Area General Manager for Luxury & Lifestyle in Taiwan and the hotel’s General Manager, described the goal in simple terms. He said the hotel should feel like it belongs to Taipei, and that international visitors and local guests should both use it to see more of the city.

IHG’s Growing Taiwan Lineup

The Taipei opening adds to a string of InterContinental hotels in Taiwan. InterContinental Kaohsiung opened in 2021, and InterContinental Taichung followed in 2024. InterContinental New Taipei Hot Spring opened in 2025 as the brand’s first hot spring resort in the market. IHG says these hotels serve both international and domestic travelers across city and resort settings.

More is on the way with Farglory Group. The two companies recently signed Hualien Farglory Hotel, Vignette Collection. That deal adds to IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle presence in Greater China. The company says it plans to keep working with trusted owners and partners to expand in selected destinations.

IHG also points to Taiwan’s long-term hospitality prospects. It cites the island’s cultural heritage, varied tourism offerings, and appeal to regional and international travelers. The company notes that demand is shifting toward travel that feels different and is built around experiences. IHG says it will pair its global brands with locally relevant offerings as it grows in the market.
