Vignette Collection has added hotels in Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai, Beidaihe, Qiandao Lake, and Sanya this year. The Hari Hong Kong joined the brand more recently. Vignette Collection is the first luxury collection brand from IHG Hotels & Resorts, and it now has a growing presence across Greater China. Rita Jiang, IHG’s Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer for Greater China, said luxury travelers increasingly want personalized experiences that reflect their interests.
How the Brand Is Built
Vignette Collection rests on three hallmarks: One-of-a-Kind Stays, Memorable Rituals, and A Means for Good. Each hotel keeps its own identity, style, and story rather than following a single design template. The approach is meant to give guests a local view of the place they are visiting. Jiang said the collection celebrates the individuality of its hotels and their ties to local culture, lifestyles, and communities.
The design details vary widely from one property to the next. TFT Chongqing draws on the city’s nickname, “Bridge City,” and its position above the meeting point of two rivers. Bridge motifs appear in the interiors, on the room keys, and in a themed afternoon tea, and guests also receive story cards. THE ONE Shanghai Downtown reflects the city’s Art Deco heritage in its architecture and interiors. It also works with a local art center, which gives guests a way to explore Shanghai’s creative scene outside the hotel.

Rituals and Local Ties
Several hotels have built signature moments around their surroundings. Shanghai Snow World Hotel is located inside the Shanghai L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort. A ringing bell starts an après-ski gathering, where guests sip specially made drinks beside an electric fireplace. The hotel also runs introductory sessions for first-time skiers, so newcomers can learn the basics before heading to the slopes.
Other properties focus on place and craft:
- Resea Hotel Beidaihe offers a sunrise ritual, inviting guests to watch the first light over the sea.
- Palm Springs Hotel Chengdu runs hands-on activities based on Shu embroidery and fragrance-making.
The third hallmark, A Means for Good, covers community and environmental work. The Hari Hong Kong, in Wan Chai, runs The Hari Art Prize for emerging Hong Kong-based artists. The prize is meant to nurture local talent and support the city’s creative community. The hotel combines art, culture, and contemporary luxury under one roof, and the prize ties those themes back to the neighborhood.
Two other hotels have taken on environmental projects. WM Hotel Hong Kong, a waterfront retreat in Sai Kung, partnered with a local non-profit international school to organize a beach clean-up at Sha Ha Beach. The event aimed to raise awareness of marine conservation and to encourage community participation. The Azure Ningbo turns coffee grounds and food waste into compost, which it uses on its plants and in its gardens. The practice is part of the hotel’s daily operations.
